Rumor: Gears of War 2 and Alan Wake at GDC

The video game industry's favorite insider darling Surfer Girl is back to her predicting ways, this time targeting Alan Wake and the highly anticipated Gears of War 2.

According to her long list of answers that she posted in response to readers' numerous questions, Surfer Girl confirms that Gears of War 2 will be making an appearance at GDC later this month and so will the somewhat forgotten Alan Wake. Surfer Girl goes on to claim other rumors including Mass Effect DLC as well as Halo 4's existence, but in the short term, GoW2 and Alan Wake making a GDC appearance is the hotness right now. Even if Mark Rein says otherwise.

Looking back, Surfer Girl has been able to keep a pretty solid track record for being spot about insider news, but know that her insider tips are not always perfect. So, take all her tips for what they're worth, analyze your GDC floorplan and pick up a copy of GamePro, because GoW2 announcement buzz is taking over the intertubes. Be prepared.

Halo 4!!!

I'm not feeling the buzz

I don't know what to think about this surfergirl anymore. She posts what seems to be literally dozens of rumors per week... It just seems like she'd get a couple right each time just out of pure dumb luck.

Never heard of her before now, but most of the ones listed in the post seem like common sense to me...

We all know Gears 2 is coming, and GDC would be a good place to start the hypewagon.

Mass Effect is gonna have DLC? Unless that means something other than episodic content that is already known, as is the fact that MS and Bungie will want to milk every last drop of a certain overrated game which just so happens to sell a lot...

yeah imho GOW 2 should be out by Nov or Dec just in time for xmas.

GOW was nearly perfect. all they need to do is enhance on the story, hopefully 4 player online co-op. and more multiplayer maps.

I don't know how to feel about a Halo 4. I already know that would just be a temp name because the "halo" story itself is over, it would have to have a different name not includeing "halo"

But I don't know... I think it is too early for that...

good point, what would the Halo franchise be called without those pesky rings now? Master Chief? Spartan 117? I think somebody shot themselves in the foot there...

Ummm... sweet but it's still not going to release "until it's done" and it will be a quality product. Screenshots won't mean a thing because it will probably be using the same engine.

Maybe fix the glitches too. That was why i stopped playing GoW. Otherwise the game was fantastic, but if it can't hit a homerun for me on multiplayer, i won't keep it. Lets hope GoW2 is better.

GOW 2 isn't coming out next for epic...I hear it's after something new releases. That's probably what's gonna be announced, not GOW 2. I can't wait though.

I'm VERY excited about Alan Wake, and have been looking forward to it ever since it was first announced. As a fan of both Max Payne and the Twin Peaks television series, this game sounds like it'll be perfect..

gow2 will clearly be out for holiday 08, not excited at all... halo 4? who gives a flying fuck?

Alan Wake baby! I've been waiting for this game since they first showed the trailer at the E3 of 2005! FINALLY I will have it in my paws! MWHAHA!

Gears of War 2 will also be fantastic,but Alan Wake is a little bit more reliable of a release then Gears of War 2 at this point. Keep your eye on single player Epic! Don't succumb and pander to the multi-player crowd as the game's main selling point! Campaign! Campaign! Campaign!

I would love for Gears 2 to be on 2-3 discs; one for multiplayer and the other 2 for Campaign. Anyone agree?

halo has dozens of story threads it could follow. of course there can be a halo 4. it just has to be written. i can't wait. in my opinion, halo 3 is slightly better than gears. gears is beautiful, but predictable as hell. the cut-scenes are great, but the dialog is wooden. it gets tired. i prefer the gameplay in halo. h3 -- great vehicles, level design, weapons, characters. the explosions are art. halo 4 delivered, imo.

I hope part two lasts longer.. beat it in under 4 hours

halo 3 delivered, i mean.

I think Halo 4 will just be the Halo Chroicles there is no need for a 4th Halo its not Final Fantasy.
