Black, Ninja Gaiden Black, & Sid Meier's Pirates! coming to Xbox Originals

On February 11, the 360's Xbox Originals will see another small update to its still-slender selection, this time adding Ninja Gaiden Black, Sid Meier's Pirates!, and the Criterion FPS Black to the roster.

Pirates! is the 2004 re-make of Sid Meier's original 1987 adventure game, which sees players taking on the roles of pirates (duh) in the Spanish Main. Black is Criterion's adrenaline-fueled last-gen FPS, with destructible environments and a healthy amount of explosions. Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden Black added a number of features to the original Xbox title, including the condescending "Ninja Dog" easy mode.

All good additions, to be sure, but with Valentine's Day coming only three days later, couldn't they have at least included something a bit more romantic? Like, say, Beyond Good & Evil?

When I had an Xbox, Ninja Gaiden was one of my favourite games. The blood effects are really visceral, but definitely satisfying.

Black was flashy garbage though.

I highly recommend Ninja Gaiden.

Unless you're a girly man who wimps out on hard games.

Funny I should say that though, I'm not a fan of NG at all :S Just thought it was the best one up there.

Ninja Gaiden Black will be a nice addition to the collection. However I do have to agree with the article: Where's the Beyond Good & Evil love?

Sid Meier's Pirates might actually be worth the stupid DLC price when you see what people still expect dollar-wise for an actual physical copy of the game! This is one of the old xbox games I've got on a backlog I want to play, but not for $25+.

This might be one of the few instances where the Xbox Originals idea wins out.

Nice. I always enjoyed Pirates but didn't get a chance to pick it up the first time around.

Cute... "Black" will probably not be available in Germany... and Ninja Gaiden's difficulty level is evil (I bought Ninja Gaiden Sigma for PS3 and can't even kill the first real boss).

Ugh, Ninja Gaiden Black is an enromous 6 gigs...

Pirates! is great fun on GameTap, but I think I'd dig it/play it more on the console, and Black was fun on the PS2. Sure, it's mindless, destructo fun, and the cut scenes are horeendously unintentionally hilarious, but it's another title I had plenty of fun with and never thought it deserved the critical drubbing it got. Its pomposity was part of its charm for me, plus the explosions were really groovy. Me like big booms!

I saw that Pirates was up on Live this morning, though I don't know if you could actually buy and download it. YMMV

Back when I was Gamecube and PS2-ing it up, I worked at a GameCrazy. We had Pirates on of the demo kiosks and I spent a couple shifts playing it when I could get a break. I finally bought it for my roommates Xbox. Now that I think about it, Pirates was the gateway drug that got my addicted to the crack cocaine for the brain that is the Xbox brand. I love you, Xbox.

damn it... i just bought NGB for $20 so i can warm up before NG2 comes out... oh well, saves HDD space...

HELL FUCKING YEAH! The one Xbox Original I've been waiting and hoping for! Definitely getting Ninja Gaiden Black OMG!

the DLC pricing for Ninja Gaiden black makes sense since a copy still costs around $15-20 dollars. But this is a damn good update though.

I played Pirates on Gametap already, but I think I might buy it here too. I love that game.

I'm thinking this is the Rolling Stones edition. Two games fit the theme of "Paint It Black," and Keith Richards did play a pirate in the third "Pirates of the Carribean" movie.

meh only one even slightly interesting is black. If you want Ninja gaiden just wait till 2 comes out since it's the same damn game but bloodier (which apparently is enough to win even more brainless people). Not gonna pay $15 and several gigs for black though.
