David Jaffe to present keynote at GDC Game Career Seminar
On the Friday of this year's Game Developers Conference, the Game Career Seminar will offer a series of speakers and roundtables aimed toward students hoping to break into the industry. Kicking off the event will be David Jaffe, who will be delivering a keynote speech entitled "From Grunt to God to Startup: Career Lessons from the Edge of Development."
Jaffe will be discussing his own history in the industry, starting from his earliest projects and lowliest jobs, to his own indie studio, Eat Sleep Play, where he's working on several unannounced Playstation 3 titles. Though infamous for his matter-of-fact approach, Jaffe is also a dynamic and engaging speaker, having previously participated in GDC events like last year's Game Design Challenge. It will be interesting to see what advice he has to impart upon the wide-eyed developers of tomorrow.

Damn those references NEVER get old...
...because you could always rewind back in time when they do.

"Jaffe is also a dynamic and engaging speaker"
which is why he was completely out-classed by other developers at that mtv discussion a few years back?
Roto13 @ Feb 5th 2008 8:12AM
Dynamic and engaging? Isn't that just a nice way of saying "Loud and obnoxious"?
Zsavior @ Feb 5th 2008 8:28AM
If Dynamic and engaging you mean he drops the F bomb everytime somebody asks a question he doesn't like or can't answer then yes he is dynamic and engaging.
He is as dynamic and engaging as a child with Turrets syndrome doing Shakespeare's Julius Caeser in a high school auditorium.

Sadly weather he is right or a complete dumb ass, Jaffe always has the physical disadvantage of having a face people would just love to punch. XD
I am going to be at GDC and while I normally do not give a crap about what he says ever, I may wanna peek in to see if anyone is going to say anything negative about his methods. After all, this is the Game Developers Conference, not the Online Fanboys Circle Jerk. Seriously, you should have seen the reaction at 06 when Microsoft announced DX10 is Vista exclusive, or when Sony said they could not show their shit on the big TV because it was not HD equipped.
BOOOOOOOOO!!!! *throws crap at speakers*

Yeah, if you're lucky he'll show up drunk again and pepper his talk with some colourful language...

David Jaffe is a crybaby.

Once when I was listening to Jaffe talk, my ears literally caught fire from the swearing.
As much as I dislike Jaffe, I'm sure he'll have some good advice for up and coming indie developers.

Jaffe presents?

For every time he says "fuck" take a shot!
