Rainbow Six Vegas 2 cashes in March 21
Eurogamer reports that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will be shooting up casinos and terrorists before you know it, as Ubisoft has confirmed a March 21st release date for the game.
Vegas 2 will feature numerous improvements over the first Nevada-centric Rainbow Six game, including an improved reward system, online co-op, sprinting, and destructible cover. We're assuming March 21 is a worldwide release for the game, although we will confirm with Ubisoft whether that date pertains to North America as well as Europe.

Fix it so enemies can see me through glass and don't hide behind the slats on balcony walls that I can easily shoot through and I'll be happy.
Shimrra @ Feb 5th 2008 5:00PM
Man I should pick up the first one and see what its all about.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Feb 5th 2008 5:07PM
Tis fun. Then again, I didn't bother with the singleplayer at all.
But multiplayer is a blast though.
Einhanderkiller @ Feb 5th 2008 6:22PM
If you're going to check it out, steer clear of the PC version. Ubisoft did a horrific job on that version; it's as if they didn't even try.
Geist @ Feb 5th 2008 6:35PM
Don't expect a Rainbow Six game, and you'll be fine. My friends tried to play this on the PC after playing Raven Shield, and we were extremely disappointed by the simple run-and-gun we were able to pull off.
propanol @ Feb 5th 2008 10:47PM
R6: Rogue Spear is on my top 25 greatest games of all time; such a fantastic tactical shooter which really required you to think and plan your approach unlike most mindless by-the-numbers FPSes at the time. Raven Shield was sort of a letdown; a dumbed down interface with less tactics and more FPS gameplay (but it was still okay, I guess).
In my mind, Vegas is a Rainbow Six game in name only. It's like they figured "okay, what if we take SWAT 4 and dumb it down to the point where it'll work with gamepads and appeal to the casual console gaming FPS audience?". I guess it worked, considering how well it sold.
Shmil @ Feb 5th 2008 5:02PM
and with that there was much rejoicing
Edog Lost @ Feb 5th 2008 5:06PM
I don't understand what the major difference is going to be in this game. I hope it's great, and I hope to play it.
Noel @ Feb 5th 2008 5:07PM
Does this one have 4 player split screen? I bought the last one on the misconception that it did and was disappointed to find out later that it did not.
To head off the "Who needs splitscreen crowd":
-Unlike most of you, I have real world friends
-My friend's don't own 360s.
-Even if they did, we'd still prefer to play in person
Dahk @ Feb 5th 2008 5:12PM
Nah, I think there's more of a crowd that'll side with you than not.
I'm the only one with a PS3 in my house, and my 4 other roommates definitely need the split screen to do anything =P.
Otherwise, games like SSBM and SSBB also own =P... once brawl comes out anyway.
one i blind @ Feb 5th 2008 5:19PM
man that's hostile. I agree a split screen would be nice. There is nothing better than 16 player halo on a LAN or 4 player twisted metal 3, but given the tactical side of rainbow six it seems like it would be tough to stay competitive with such a small amount of real estate on a screen.

Closes door on confrontational, insecure dude... It's a cold world.
Noel @ Feb 5th 2008 9:22PM
Just to be clear, the "unlike most of you" was directed at the cabal of anti-split screen readers I was expecting to nastily respond to my post. Their lack of response is a clear indication that I was successful in shaming them and heading of their attacks.
It was not meant as an insult to the general readership of joystiq and I apologize if it was taken that way (except for Mr. Door Click Guy, you can feel free to stay offended).
B3astofthe3ast @ Feb 5th 2008 5:12PM
Pfft, who wants to play this? Brawl will be out by then.....
Gamerdad @ Feb 5th 2008 5:12PM
Does anyone even care about this game? The first one was meh imo.
Geist @ Feb 5th 2008 6:37PM
I agree quite muchly. Controls felt off, gameplay wasn't Rainbow Six (what do you mean, regenerative health? Wtf is this?), and it felt way too simple.
EihBeir @ Feb 5th 2008 5:19PM
March 21st is a Friday. That's a bit unusual, isn't it?
Doug @ Feb 5th 2008 8:49PM
the report is from eurogamer so i guess its the euro release date - all (or at least most) games come out on a friday in UK
Trev @ Feb 5th 2008 5:29PM
I enjoyed R6V, so I'll at least rent this one. I like the additional things, but I worry (like others) that it really won't be enough of a change. Maybe it will look less like ass than the last one; it's graphics were pretty disappointing an any console and will need a pretty big boost to keep up with other games that are coming out now.
kbomb1upc @ Feb 5th 2008 5:29PM
Is this coming out for the PS3? If so, I hope they don't do a crummy job like they did the first RB6.
colin @ Feb 5th 2008 9:49PM
shoot the j!
Silly Sauce @ Feb 5th 2008 5:38PM
meh...
J @ Feb 5th 2008 5:38PM
RV6 cover system > Gears
LZBravo @ Feb 5th 2008 6:01PM
Agreed
Russell @ Feb 5th 2008 6:02PM
i 2nd that.
Geist @ Feb 5th 2008 6:38PM
Army of Two cover system > *.
I think Red Orchestra uses the same kind, in which case, it is also > *.
rv @ Feb 5th 2008 7:15PM
Gears and rsv are about the same. Then again its been a while since I played rsv.
Brent @ Feb 5th 2008 5:59PM
Hmm...I really enjoyed the first one. Me and my bros would play 3 player co-op and we had a grand ol' time. Will probably pick up part 2.

i didnt really care for this game much in the bit i played. didnt really wow me.
but anyway, didnt they just announce recently and now it's dropping already? i could have it confused with something else but i thought they just showed the first trailer like a month ago and now it's about to release. if that's so, then i wish more devs would take this rout instead of all the delays. i dont have any problem with them taking their time on games but they shouldnt announce them until their closer to being done.
skullivan @ Feb 5th 2008 6:34PM
The US ship date is March 18th.
There's supposed to be a whole bunch of new info released on February 7th.
ill trooper @ Feb 5th 2008 7:27PM
Oh. My. God. Becky.
I got so much play value out of R6.Vegas. Amazing on all counts. Great concept (Terror attack in Vegas? Gunfights in casinos? Clever.) good levels, accurate controls, best cover system, great attention to detail, lots of game play variety (single player campaign, co-op campaign, split screen, online versus, online co-op 'terrorist hunt')... and even good voice acting for the A.I., filled with cursing, which sounds like a weird thing to say, but it made it far more believable and memorable ("They killed Marcelo!")
I am there. In the store. I mean like right now. Oh, not out yet? I will wait.
giantenemycrab @ Feb 5th 2008 7:39PM
YES! I loved the first one, I always thought that it was a better game than Gears.
colin @ Feb 5th 2008 9:50PM
so i herd ummm ...
JohnHeist @ Feb 5th 2008 10:27PM
I expect massive disappointment on the "Destructible Cover"...that has still yet to be delivered as-promised on any game that I know of.
DaGamer @ Feb 24th 2008 6:36PM
I would rather play something tactical that involves hiding and the use of my brains rather than reflexes, is this going to be better for me than Halo 3?
