THQ's Drawn to Life drawn to Wii
Squirreled away in the same conference call that brought us news of Volition's Red Faction 3 was the announcement that the clever draw-your-own-platformer Drawn to Life wouldn't be confined to the DS any longer, with a Wii release planned for "the future." Gamasutra reports that in addition to announcing it would, uh, announce "several other new Wii exclusive titles" in coming weeks, THQ Pres Brian Farrell said the company intended "to extend the [Drawn to Life] brand to the Wii in the future." No word on when to expect the Wiimote-enabled title, but we'll fill you in when we know more.

"several other new Wii exclusive titles"
Translation - "Several NEW Wii-Exclusive Nicktoons, and G-rated Childrens Movie Kart Racers and Minigame collections!"

It was fun to try out on the ds. I was extremely immature though, because my hero was a floppy dong.
playwhutyalike @ Feb 5th 2008 8:21PM
My hero is going to be, get this, a TWO headed floppy dong. Flobbity Dobbity.

I like your pun at the end!

If done right, this could be really really cool.
But if done as a sloppy afterthought well...

Ahhh man, what're our odds on some renewed development and time spent on this? If they're not going to heave some serious effort into making this respectable, they should do the most bare bones port ever; that would be justice. Don't update the graphics, just blow them up and get em all pixely. Don't remove the DS's 2 screen presentation, just port it straight over, top and bottom split screens. But, if they do indeed go this route, let's get the most ridiculous and stupid pen/marker attachment peripheral for the front of the Wiimote. Ahhh lawd where's my optimism.

We need a Wii version of Magic Pengel / Graffiti Kingdom.
This should be obvious to anyone who ever played those games. Drawing with the PS2 controller is a darned shame.
Giving them the ability to read/write to SD cards (for Wii PC data sharing) would also rock. I saw plenty of fanart versions of characters on Youtube for Graffiti Kingdom, it was awesome. I'd love to be able to download those.

I loved Drawn to Life, so any news of future installments is good news to me.

Imagine online sharing... the very graphic custom characters and worlds.

My God...It's a Wii Big Planet.

It might be just me, but it feels like drawing using a wii remote might be a LOT harder than it sounds. I really enjoyed Drawn to Life with a stylus, but having it on a Wii feels like giving a surgeon a hacksaw for a delicate operation.
Brello @ Feb 6th 2008 12:34AM
Drawing with a Wii remote sounds like anything but easy to me!
Suiname @ Feb 6th 2008 12:40AM
Maybe they'll allow input with an infrared pen (packed into the game of course) Johnny Lee style. At least if they were smart they would.
SovietSpartan @ Feb 6th 2008 12:46AM
what a coinicidence, my r4 came today and i started playing drawn to life. My character is named f"k Hitler and his snow shooter looks like one of those broom handle pistols, and the clouds are nazi flags. he goes around "cleansing" the land of the shadow. lol epic lulz. next character will be scarface or megatron. lol
Jamesology @ Feb 6th 2008 2:38AM
WOW what the hell is the point. I have this for my DS. Dammit when is SMB coming out?
samfish @ Feb 6th 2008 9:01AM
It came out a while ago.
Back in 1985, I believe.
Nathan Chan @ Feb 6th 2008 1:59PM
The DS version sucked so I'm going to assume the Wii version will as well.
