The only thing good to ever come out of Germany is Heidi Klum and Ivan Drago. And Ivan Drago's from Russia.

We also got the German language, which lets face it, is pretty damn awesome.

Which in turn has given them the best Metal in the world and in general a great influence on the more brutal side of the Metal spectrum from everybody.

You can thank Germany for setting the universal speed limit at the speed of light.

That has become so standard here in Germany, it doesn't even bother me anymore. Some games are unneccesarily brutal anyway.

For example the German version of Team Fortress 2 replaces all the bloody body parts, that are flying around when a player explodes, with cute toys and hamburgers. I tried the blood patch, to get back the gore of the english version, but in the end I found, that the blood simply doesn't fit in the comic-atmosphere of the game.

If I play a random server I see this from time to time. All the players wear party hats too.

Doesn't Germany also ban the use of the color red for blood? I understand that we all deal with censorship to a degree, but the thought of humans bleeding purple or black blood is just bizarre.

It all stems from a law passed after WWII. To stamp out all Nazi propaganda, a law was passed to censor remotely "offensive."

This was meant to stop the return of fascism, but was of course misused by all those "I don't understand it, therefore it must be bad" killjoys.

Many games in the 90s tried to get lower ratings by coloring the blood. It makes the enemys seem to be less human. green was the most used color. But it isnt very common today, and many games come uncencored these days (like doom 3, jericho, half-life 2 [one had robots instead of soldiers + green zombie blood], tenchu Z, assassins creed [tenchu and ac even where rated 16+], Turok etc.)

By the way: The german version of conan was announced to be cencored like a year ago...

Simple question:

Violence or tits?

If you're a straight guy and had to think about that question for more then a second, then there's something wrong with you.

Denying people something only increases the desire to possess it. Which the do, but only by channels where the government have no controls, so age restrictions suffer for example.

We can't buy any game or movie in Germany without having it censored to hell, unless it's a sports game. Oh, wait, they censored the blood in Skate...

Well, actually it won't help the poor bastards buying the game from some other country since content along with blood and titty- levels are managed server- side

It is understandible, Germany stars in of the darkest and violent chapters in human history. Their aversion to violence makes sense and I don't hold it against em.
And they trade off violence with sex...not to bad a tradeoff if you ask me.
