Assassin's Creed pounces onto PC this March, adds missions
In case you weren't one of the 2.5 million people to pick it up in its first month of sales, Ubisoft is bringing history lesson-cum-assassin simulator Assassin's Creed to the PC platform in March. The only difference: when you drop "a few coins" on this version, you'll be rewarded with "four brand-new exclusive types of investigations" which should go a small way towards silencing complaints that the game (one of our favorites in '07, by the by) was repetitive. And, at $50, it enjoys the obligatory PC game discount.
Please sir, spare a few coins ...

PC guys...don't waste your time. Another mission just means you'll be doing the same thing again and again.
"You dare claim my presents? This will cost you your life!"
Aero @ Feb 6th 2008 6:32PM
They say
"You dare steal in my presence"
Not
"You dare claim my presents?"

lol!
Mr.ESC @ Feb 6th 2008 7:32PM
Is not funny, not even a bit.
Ubisoft sucks dicks.
Marty @ Feb 6th 2008 5:50PM
...so when's it pouncing back onto my 360 in the form of a sequel? That cliff-hanger ending was weak!
HighFiveJesus @ Feb 6th 2008 7:19PM
Once i buy some more ram, i meet all those requirements, and can almost tap the recommended settings on the shoulder. The PC is just absolutely fine if you don't want an xbox 360. I'll have the opportunity to play almost every exclusive that recieves critical acclaim and i don't mind waiting one bit, i've got other stuff to do.
HighFiveJesus @ Feb 6th 2008 7:20PM
Heh, looks like i mighta clicked one reply too high. Meant at Deaftly below.
deaftly @ Feb 6th 2008 5:51PM
In order to play this game properly, your PC MUST meet or exceed these minimum requirements:
* Supported OS: Windows XP / Vista (only)
* Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better recommended)
* RAM: 2 GB (3 GB recommended)
* Video Card: 256 MB DirectX 10.0–compliant video card or DirectX 9.0–compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (512 MB video card recommended) (see supported list)*
Have fun running this, Consoles FTW
maverick_saturn_626 @ Feb 6th 2008 6:06PM
In order for your PC to run this, you must have
*BOREFACTOR 2008 installed
Grimmus @ Feb 6th 2008 6:06PM
We've already got Crysis, which your consoles can't run. PCs for the win.
Jeff @ Feb 6th 2008 6:18PM
Most of us will be getting it for free either way! PC gaming FTW!
Personally, I have no interest. Beat as much of it as I could before getting terribly bored at a friends house.
Ted @ Feb 6th 2008 6:19PM
I'll have fun playing it at 1920x1200 (2560x1600 when I get a 30" monitor) resolution with extra graphics settings turned up. Enjoy your 720p.
PC gaming FTW.
maverick_saturn_626 @ Feb 6th 2008 6:27PM
With so many of the games I have on 360 now popping up on PC with extra content, I often question my purchase ¬_¬
Exo @ Feb 6th 2008 6:31PM
"We've already got Crysis, which your consoles can't run. PCs for the win."
oh no, we dont get another fps of which only worth is that it has good graphics and not much else.
Einhanderkiller @ Feb 6th 2008 6:32PM
More like Ubisoft FTL.
Ubisoft, you suck at making games.
XGM @ Feb 6th 2008 7:42PM
Uhhh ok even my MacBook Pro passes those specs. Now to wait for the game release.
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Feb 6th 2008 7:54PM
I think those requirements are a little bit too high. Looks like I'm gonna need to boost up my budget PC soon...
Rocky-style!
Geist @ Feb 7th 2008 12:47AM
Console ftw? Nah. We (PC users) get a larger, updated version of games.
PC is always better. There's a wait period, yes, but it's always better.
ThornedVenom @ Feb 7th 2008 1:33AM
I already exceed all of those requirements.
Seriously though, at this rate, I'm wondering why the hell I ought to get a 360 if games are rolling onto my PC.
Without Xbox Live.
Ted @ Feb 7th 2008 4:36AM
Not to mention we'll be able to download all kinds of mods and customizations for the PC version. And not have to pay xbox live for that.
Ben @ Feb 7th 2008 9:00AM
Most true PC gamers have at least those specs... If someone's going to invest as much time into their PC for gaming as you would on your console, then they're going to have a decent PC. Plus, having a fast PC also has more practical uses, like... editing your Word documents faster, duh.
Oh, and they could also play almost any game using mouse and keyboard, 360 controller, a Wii Remote/nunchuk combo (classic controller or even Guitar Hero guitar), Sixaxis (why anyone would is beyond me), or virtually any other console controller (through USB conversion) all at higher resolutions (or 1080p on our TVs). Granted, you're paying much more in the end, it's only a few hundred dollars... lol.
MarMar @ Feb 6th 2008 5:53PM
next holiday itll probably be 15 used
Nick the Hero of Canton @ Feb 6th 2008 5:53PM
For some reason, I kind of want this for PC even though 1) I have it for 360 and 2) My PC will implode upon itself if I even move the disc an inch near my DVD drive.
I don't know why, something about it on a PC appeals to me :P
ComicShaman @ Feb 6th 2008 6:17PM
Probably because if it can be modded, it's the sort of game that lends itself to a lot of possibilities. I'd be curious to see what could be done with it, though the point is academic for me, since I don't think it'll come out for the Mac.
Xanto @ Feb 6th 2008 6:31PM

AC is the video game equivalent of "Pearl Harbor". Lotsa hype and big sales, but everyone is left wondering how the hell such a terrible game can make so much money.
It is probably the worst thing I've played (outside of some lame-o demos) since E.T. I question it even being called a "game" since it operates more like an interactive experience (remember those?) in that you walk up to someone and press the "assassinate" button. That's it. No great sword battle. If you do get chased by guards or if your target attacks you first, you simply hit the exact same button repeatedly (and they call this a "combo" - imagine if a Big Mac combo came with two Big Macs, nothing else!). Just terrible. $60 I might as well have flushed down the toilet.
Mr.ESC @ Feb 6th 2008 7:45PM
I agree.
A week ago: Is not that bad, is lackluster but is not bad.
Now:Okay AC is a piece of sh!t.
Even after months of its release Ubisoft keeps finding ways to piss me off.
Pc fans don’t even bother; this game was mediocre in consoles, considering that every Ubisoft port to the PC sucks it’s probably going to be an awful port with shitty extras.
Geist @ Feb 7th 2008 12:54AM
Esc: Splinter Cell games would like to disagree with you. And Prince of Persia. I'm picking this up because I've played it before and I enjoyed it and the day I take posters' opinions on Joystiq as fact is the day I purchase Enter the Matrix because it was so popular.
dizzy @ Feb 6th 2008 7:04PM
"a few coins"
Every time I hear that in-game, no matter what is going on, I drop everything else to go and stab the hoochie that says that.
WhoMe @ Feb 6th 2008 7:35PM
I thought I was the only one!
*blushes*
Zertoss @ Feb 6th 2008 8:13PM
If there's a scaffold or similar breakable object nearby, I throw them into that instead.
Shmil @ Feb 6th 2008 8:26PM
i just start punching the damn beggar bitch, the guards don't do anything unless you pull out a sword or kill her by throwing her into scaffolding
i also loath those damn crazy "hobos" who shove you i go out of my way to make sure they get what's coming to them
loungemonkey @ Feb 6th 2008 7:10PM
More missions? Sweet...nothing like adding more Save the Citizen, Eavesdrop, Pick-pocket, Collect flags, Kill random guards for some other Assassin.
Oh the variety!
loungemonkey @ Feb 6th 2008 7:11PM
And yes I did read the post.
I just dont think you can get better than what they already have.
*hangs self*
Geist @ Feb 7th 2008 12:49AM
Wait. So you think these options are the -best- that there is in an engine like this? Either you have exceptionally low standards, or no imagination at all.
Ben @ Feb 7th 2008 9:06AM
If Ubisoft could come up with any other types of missions, I would think they'd already have been in the game to begin with... I agree it's probably going to be a rehash of the original missions. [insert task here] [insert name here] without being caught.
It's not like it's an assassin's job to walk to the market, buy some fruit, deliver fruit... Stealthily. Wait, now there's a game I'd pay $50, or even $60 for.
Beatz @ Feb 6th 2008 7:17PM
The thing I hated was when one of those drunks/retarded guys would push you and all of a sudden the guards realized you were the assassin. How does that make sense?
"Hey, that drunk just pushed a guy! He must be the one who killed that guard a couple of yards back! KILL HIM!"
Ugh, reminds me of how honking the horn in Mercenaries would make the North Koreans realize you were the mercenary, even if you're in a tank and there's no way they can tell who's inside.
Mr.ESC @ Feb 6th 2008 7:37PM
No,what actually happens is that the retard screams "He is an assasin!!" whenever he pushes you,for some reason the retards reliaze a guy full with blades is up to no good while the guards don't give a damn so as you see the retards are more intelligent than the guards.
In fact I think the retards are the only NPCs with a developed AI.
shuref00t @ Feb 6th 2008 7:18PM
Cool, I'll give it a try... for free.
BananaPoo @ Feb 6th 2008 7:41PM
I rather pound some nails into my penis then play this game...
AC is maggot shit that lays on a pile of shit that you step in with bare feet...
ThornedVenom @ Feb 7th 2008 1:35AM
Just for kicks, I'm bringing my hammer.
briaguya @ Feb 6th 2008 8:14PM
@Grimmus
Don't you mean, "We've already got Crysis, which our PC's can't even run"
Geist @ Feb 7th 2008 12:55AM
That is a lie. You don't need a high-end PC to run Crysis. You need a high-end PC to run Crysis on maximum settings and to see the sweat on your enemy's face and the bug in the tree four miles away, but just to get the game running decently? No, you don't need a high-end PC.
jgoldenb @ Feb 6th 2008 8:21PM
I certainly wouldn't say that AC was a piece of shit. It certainly had some nice aspects such as the interesting time and setting. But it had a lot of hype behind it, and is among the biggest dissapointments I've ever played(and very few games I feel live up to the hype).
simmcity @ Feb 6th 2008 8:38PM
What about a PSP version? I really don't feel like playing a super downgraded version on my DS. Not saying its going to be bad on the DS, but it would look and probably play more closer to the console versions if its put on the PSP.
n0v4 @ Feb 6th 2008 11:42PM
It's just not a port. It's a new game, which is the prequel to the console game.
Shmil @ Feb 6th 2008 8:39PM
really? I guess i'll remain one of the few defenders of assassin's creed I loved the game and as for replay? I just go on a GTA style run of stabbing anyone who gets in my way then its time for fun with the guards
Toasty @ Feb 6th 2008 9:23PM
An open letter:
Dear people who are bitching about AC,
You don't like the game. We get it. You may stop whining now and proceed to fuck yourselves.
Fondest Regards,
-Toasty
Geist @ Feb 7th 2008 12:56AM
Someone, finally, thank you.
Ted @ Feb 7th 2008 3:50AM
Exactly! Some games it's just popular to have a vandetta against and it's annoying. Crysis suffers the same.
