Why the Oni hate? I loved that game! I was young though, so maybe I just thought all the violent combos were awesome.

I like the idea of a story-based first-person adventure shooter with modern capabilities. Sure, it's a shooter, but it's not the same damn thing as everything else.

It'll be a casual game. Mark my words. Bungie will use this to get some big cash quick. Making a huge game first would condemn them to silence for 2 years and also eat up a ton of their cash, probably requiring a huge buy-in from their publisher (MS). They didn't "go independent" just to have to sell back out to their publisher on a game-by-game basis.

They don't have to "sell back out" when they already said they are only making games for 360

I never saw the point of them leaving Micro if they are still backing Micro as their first customer and giving them first choice, thats just silly. Lol, if Micro has sense, all the crap games they make will be left for all other consoles or PC to have, and all the good ones they'll take exclusively, Bungie, look, just go back to being part of Micro :S

I agree they aren't really independent, hence my quotes.

But they are independently financed, and I expect they aren't financed well enough right now to do a 2 year huge game development cycle without cash input. That usually comes from the publisher, which would be MS. So they'd end up right on the MS teat again, which would make the whole "independence" thing even MORE moot.

I figure they'll make a cheaper game first, take the money and plow it back into more expensive games later. And yeah, they still won't make PS3 or Wii games.

How about the new Halo Trilogy in which you get to play as Gravemind and command your flood minions to conquer the universe!

I'd rather play as an individual Flood infection form where I have to constantly worry about getting popped until I find a dead soldier. The entire game you aspire to be a carrier form - the game equivalent of a walking exploding barrel.

What ever it is I'm willing to bet the only part that will be "totally different" is the fact that it'll will release multi-platform.

Considering that MS has first dibs on publishing their future games, I doubt we'll be seeing Bungie games on anything but the 360 and/or the PC.

Halo 3 may have been good, but till this day, I still don't understand what was so special about Halo 2, after the first level, everything was the same, heck, Halo 2 was a complete copy of Halo 1, just with added cheezy phrases. Halo 3 was refreshing to say the least.

While I am glad that they are working on something new(-ish?), as I didn't much care for Halo (outside of the Forge, which is good fun), the best thing to have come from this is the selection of options in this poll. Brilliant.

I do hope something new is about, Halo made both Bungie and 360, lets hope this new title can have a similar effect, or will it bring them down to the Oni days again, forcing them to return to their Halo roots, all we can do is watch and wait :)

I wish it were a new Myth game, but unfortunately there's no chance of that happening. Thumbs down to Joystiq for not including this in the poll btw.

@trethen

Well spoken
3 yrs and they come up with an EXPANSION PACK.

Profit margin must've been ridiculously high. I don't blame bungie though.

MS practically owned Bungie. Halo franchise cudve been something different if MS never jumped in. I think it cudve been a massive terrain type exploration game. Check youtube

Disliking Halo != PS3 Fanboy. This is a very presumptuous assumption to make.

I have a PS3 and an Xbox. I have played Halo 1,2,3 and I'm not the biggest fan to be honest. Doesn't mean I dislike Bungie, MS or my Xbox.

I must be the only person who actually really enjoyed Oni. The hand-to-hand combat stuff was awesome, mixed in with the occasional gun finishing move. On the other hand, I may have liked it so much because it was one of the few games for Mac at the time.
