Capcom has announced (via Gamasutra) the results of its fiscal third quarter, showing 51.66 billion yen in net sales (US $484.5 million; a 4.8 percent increase) but net income dropping 17.8 percent to 3.57 billion yen (US $33.5m). Despite the decline and thanks to expected sales of Devil May Cry 4, Capcom raised its expected fiscal year operating profit to 11.5 billion yen (US $107.9m), a 20 percent increase over last year and 15 percent more than previous forecasts.
Strong-selling titles for Capcom include Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles in North America and Monster Hunter 2 in Japan. Zack & Wiki unit sales were noted as growing "steadily" (and given the title's critical praise, it's about time). The publisher's "stagnant" arcade and coin-op divisions and uncertainties in the Japanese and world economies were cited as reasons for its profit drop. Devil May Cry 4 is expected to hit 1.9 million in unit sales by March 31.

This SHOULD be another nail in the coffin for those who claim Wii owners don't buy games/only buy shovelware.
...but it won't be. They'll just ignore that Z&W is at 300k and hasn't been released in Europe yet...or that RE:UC is just shy of a million sold...and continue to prattle on about how the Wii is destroying gaming.
Oh well.

@Samfish you see it also right You are so totally on the money it isn't even funny. They ignore the WII and produce for the other "high end" games and get ignored, then complain. Like I said before if the Devs want to ignore the money they will ignore the wii but if they want to make money they will start producing real games.

There are two games that Capcom need to do for the Wii, that will sell a lot.
A 2.5D Megaman X or Megaman, with simple controls... exactly like the good 2D Megaman games. Or a compilation (like the Aniversary Collection) but with updated graphics (like the one in the PSP).
And Viewtiful Joe... that was my fav. scroller last gen (gamecube version), we need part 3... the story is incomplete!
And Bionic Commando Rearmed on the WiiWare.

I love Viewtiful Joe, second only to God Hand; but as much as it pains me to say it, it would sadly be better off finishing up on PS360. There is NO way they could make that game for the Wii. It just doesn't have enough buttons.
The DS version wasn't very good. I would hate to see them introduce some crummy motion gimmick into the formula and ruin the game.

And those high-end systems sell games to, all you got to do is look at the million dollar sellers on 360...
You might as well get over the fact that most graphic pushing high cost developing games wont hit the wii...

So let me get this straight...
Zach and Wiki has sold 124k in 14 weeks in the US and this is a success given the Wii install base in the US is 9 million.
Uncharted for Ps3 has sold 418k in 11 weeks in the US and there are only 3.8 million PS3s in the US.
Methinks you have no idea what a successful game ollout entails samfish. That should never stop a Wii fanboy from talking out of his ass though...

Here's the difference, Shag...
One game had a huge advertising campaign and was a well hyped AAA title.
The other had no ads campaign whatsoever for it and was expected even by it's publisher to flop.
Maybe YOU need to reconsider what a successful game is.
...y'know...instead of being a dick.

Nope, It definately shows 3rd parties can't move games on the Wii with very few exceptions.
Third parties should definately look to 360 or PS3.

I am not talking about graphic intensive games, I am talking about well done games in general like Zack and Wiki, like NMH like RE: 4 graphics is a crutch being held on to by developers. I already own a 360 I want my Wii to be about game play story and plot.
The problem is devs are blaming graphics and controls for not even trying, and that excuse is getting old. Sure 360 games sell I won't say they don't but you are also competing with the likes of MGS and FF. The Wii is still an untapped source of gamers. It is time for them to think out side the box and begin the bring good games.

There are no single Zack and Wiki ads on TV, or magazines or internet.
Uncharted ads are frequently on TV, on Internet... my EGM magazine has Uncharted ads in the very first page (a 3 page ad, with one page folded). And it was a very hyped game...
If Capcom had adversited Zack and Wiki in the way N dog adversited Ucharted, thing would be very different.

That's question for Capcom. But if you were to go back on the Capcom boards where their company reps actually talk to their fans, it seemed pretty clear that they had looooow expectations for Zack & Wiki.

Zack and Wiki is doing good... its only that the game doent have any publicity.
But Capcom will be fine with the Wii games. Monster Hunter 3 will probably sell more than DMC34.

Well, maybe if I could get Monster Hunter on PS3 or 360 or both, we might have a spike in sales. MMORPG with a twist.

I think that this will be a trend with Wii games. Everyone looks at the Wii and says "Why are these games not selling well?" after a week or two of sales.
It's because that huge install base that the Wii has isn't composed of individuals who go out and purchase games the day they're released or pre-order games.
I believe that the trend will be Wii games having long steady sales, instead of rapid week one and two sales. The install base is there, they're just not as fanatical about gaming as other install bases. However that's not to say they don't know a good game when they see / play one.
