"Eternal Forces: Left Behind" may not have won itself an audience but that didn't stop the London Review of Books citing it in an anti video game article as "adding an evangelical thrill to the marriage of technology and annihilation that the console generation loves". Yet another example of the appalling way the media (in this case the purportedly highbrow media) treat gaming. Silly developers. Gamers play games to get AWAY from life's problems, not to dive head first into them.

Like little billy wants to play a Jesus game after his stuck up family keeps dragging him there every Sunday, no matter how much refuses, no matter how much he knows most of the people there are full of shit.

*sniff* I HATE YOU MOM!!

Boy, this sure turned into an anti-Christian thread fast. Though I'm a Christian, I would actually be scared to see the opposite of what I'm seeing here. Contrary to popular belief, Christians are told that they'll be hated and rejected, according to the words of Jesus Christ.

Not that I'd buy that game or anything; I'm just sayin'.

Yeah, I'll believe that Mario is real before I'll buy into that crap.

It's not my job to convince you. It was never my job to convince you. I frankly don't care what you think or believe; and I don't think this is a competition. Honestly; think what you'd like. Insult me and my beliefs; I don't care.

"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap."
(Galatians 6:7)

Your argument is not with me; as far as I'm concerned, it lays with God. I don't hate you, and I don't hold what you say against you. But if (and I know this is a really BIG stretch for you) God is real, the implications of your view are dangerous, and frankly... I hope you're not wrong; but I know otherwise.

Lets put it this way, the amount of hate for Christianity far outweighs the amount of hate any other religion receives on the internet combined, including Islam. What does that say to you?

You want to talk about Magic? I don't see anyone making fun of wicca here, or anywhere for that matter, and they claim to actually perform magic. No hate for Buddhists (technically not a religion, I know), despite it being a quest for mystical "enlightenment". Don't hear anything against the spirit worship of many eastern cultures either. Why is every other religion still considered sacred, except Christianity?

Or is this just a case of the internet being full of whiney emo people who hate everything thats considered "popular" and loves everything considered "niche" or "multi-cultural"?

Godbotherers! they cant even give their propoganda away!! Religion mystifies me.... it causes misery to this world and has caused unnecessary millions of deaths I will take science and reason and an acceptance that the universe is much to complex for man to fully understand than blind faith in a completely man made myth designed in the middle east to control the population through fear and generate cash and power. I cannot believe that in 2008 people still swallow this middle eastern thought control crap. My idea of "hell"lolz is to be stuck with religious nutters for all eternity with no way to get away from them. Blind faith/superstition is a sign of blighted reasoning or mental conditioning. News just in.. the tooth fairy is a lie too. The born again hypocrites who make this drivel are as dangerous as any other whack job fundamentalist extremists they have a severe and dangerous mental illness and with their apocalyptic desires represent a bizarre threat to non mentally ill people who actually care about our planet and value its importance as mankinds only home and wish for mankind to solve its problems and undergo a further renaissance, to leave these myths in the past and advance and evolve with reason and scientific intellect. I wish they would all get "beamed up" and leave! good riddance.

As a side note, do any of you even know any Christians? I mean real Christians? Probably not

I know a few Christians. Some dont wear religion on their sleeve (normal people), for some religion is a social club, for some its a hobby (borderline nutjobs).

The worst ones are those who use it for social and political power. Uhhhg, I cant stand that.

Neither can God. Scripturally, he actually struck 2 people dead for donating large sums of money to the early church because they gave to make themselves look better.

There are lots of fake Christians in the world. And then there are those who believe and follow the teachings of Christ, not what the church has become. Love thy neighbor, Keep His Commandments.

It's amazing how many fundie christens have never read the bible. They think hating gays will be good enough, yet conveniently forget that virtually on the same page it says "GAYS R GAY!", it says you shouldn't eat pork. Yet I bet you'll see these hateful little fuckers stuffing their pudgy face with bacon at the local BBQ pit.

Same thing for the rapture, which is the basis of this train wreck of a game. The rapture isn't in the bible. Let me underline that; THE RAPTURE IS NOWHERE IN THE BIBLE AT ALL, ANYWHERE SHAPE OR FORM! The whole notion of "good people" popping out of existence was thought up by some prick about a hundred years ago. It has all the credibility of scientology, only not as funny.

In fact the whole apocalypse bit of that damn book has been questioned from the start. As in the time the Roman emperor Constantine hammered the damn thing into roughly the shape we see today. All historians know for a fact (kinda), is that the apocalyptic "dream" in the Book of Revelation came from some guy (probably not Daniel) on a Geek island, that's most notable feature is that it's covered in magic mushrooms.

Okay, I'll shut up now.

You don't know what you're talking about. Nor do you understand the whole story about why not eating pork isn't even an issue.

Its contained in the book of Acts, I believe. If not, its in one of Paul's many letters. But I'll give you a hint: Christians aren't Jews, nor do we need to become Jews first to become Christians. The books of Moses (which outline "the law") are the rules governing Judaism. It is the "Old Covenant" with God. Jesus came, and created the New Covenant. We don't have to be perfect little lambs anymore. In fact, the whole point was that we didn't have to worry about sin anymore, because Jesus's sacrifice has paid the price for us. All we must do is accept the offering of his life for us. Yes, that means even gays can go to heaven if they believe Jesus saved them.

But hating guys is just hunky-dory huh? No one ever seems to dream up a get-out clause for THAT one do they? It's the old "camel though the eye of a needle" excuses that fundie Christan's forever shit out to justify their actions and lie to themselves that their not going to hell.

Okay, if you want to argue, explain to me how Eve gets created TWICE in the book of Genesis? Talk your way out of that one chuckles.

You're actually asking me to explain two accounts of the same story? If you want to get technical, you'd try and say that the whole EARTH got created twice, not just eve. But then you'd look like an idiot, because you don't understand what is clear to everyone but the most anti-bible zealots: there are 2 accounts of the creation, one is general (on this day god created this), and the other is more specific (after God did this on this day, he brought man to the garden of eden). I can already predict your answer: Something to the effect of "Whatever, fundy, that still doesn't explain why I think there are 2 separate creations", and I really don't care why you believe it. What you think should be a huge stumbling block for believers is inconsequential in reality.

And where did I say hating "guys" was hunky dory? As a matter of fact, where does the new testament say that hating "guys" is A-OK? Jesus didn't teach hate, and real Christians realize this, and don't. Even the old testament doesn't say to "hate" them, just that Homosexuality (the act, not the person) is an abomination in God's eyes. But no sin is unforgivable.

Those jackasses protesting soldiers funeral's saying that they died because of gay people aren't real Christians. Assholes bombing Abortion clinics aren't Christians. Anyone celebrating a death or a tragedy because its "the gays fault" isn't a Christian. They think they are, and they think they are being righteous, but they have been deceived into believing a twisted version of Christianity devised for the sole purpose of discrediting Christians as a whole. Like most deceptions, it contains partial truths (Jesus is the savior), but the ideology has been corrupted into something evil.

Not only is it the most sexist game I've ever played (Men can be any profession but women can only be two, I believe, which are both professions the men could be too) but the gameplay is just lame. And it gets really hard too! I don't know what kind of market they were going for here, but they didn't hit it.

Here we go! Ok first of all, religion does not make the world worst off. Its the negativity of people that drags the world down be it religious or atheist. Positive atheist would respect others peoples right to believe what they want and go on with their life, Christians who are positive would do the same. But since this whole generation is so f*c*ed up, anything that appears non-subjective, moral, absolute is some how evil.. its not "tolerant" and yet somehow a post about a game can create so much animosity. You can site the Jerry fallwells, jack Thompsons that screw up Christianity and like wise I can point to the Hitlers, Stalins and Dalhmers that screw up Atheism.. Point being someone elses failures no matter what religion or non religion they represent should not reflect on the movement as a whole.

I agree completely on this point. Human nature has a way of darkening things. During our history, we've done terrible things to each other. But it wasn't because they were christians. It wasn't because they were Roman, or gay or old. Now it's cool to point at the Crusades and say "look at what they've done" but look at Rome and Greece and say "glorious empires". Do you think they were built on sunshine and lollipops? And for everyone here to know: Countries without christianism CAN have homophobia. In some, even, the behavior is legally punishable by death? Whudda thunk, huh?

I'm gonna stick with the movies. Not that they arn't.

Now, why are so many of you so chached abput a game based(albeit disparatley) on a religion? Nobody said it about Okami(shintoism?) Akuji/Shadowman(Santeria). Why do I sense when a lot of you say "Respect and tolerance" you never mean towards Christianity?

Now, I'm not worked up over what you all believe or live or do, whatever. THAT said, I am a Christian, albeit one that hasn't stepped inside a church in a while. During my time I saw amazing things, and I don't mean the Red Sea parting. I saw a person forgive the man who crippled him, who he would meet. He pulls his wheelchair now. THAT's a miracle.

But Christianism is not for everyone. It requires sacrifice, and to leave behind many things and ways of thinking. So I'm spamming everyone here so they convert. That said, why is a game made to convert people SUCH A NEGATIVE THING? Let's get out the way the game prolly sucks. Why? Because you can kill? You've killed in other games, and probably for worst reasons. Unless you kill unarmed civilians it wouldn't be that bad. Why, is spreading your beliefs wrong, now? I mean, I disagree with Pro Gay groups, but they have their rights.

Gavin- That's some funny stuff, man. Now make the same kind of comment about OTHER "silly beliefs" and you'll see everybody get real serious. Come on, I dare you!

Of course they know what they're doing. If they can get a million people to pay $5 and all they have to supply is bandwidth, that's an easy $5 million on a craptastic game. Plus they get to say that it went platinum for "selling" 1 million copies.

It's an attempt to make a total failure somehow seem like a success.

Certainly you can't expect the company to pay for the shipping, handling or file hosting costs. For a company to offer a top quality RTS game less than 6 months old (when the latest update was released) for free is quite amazing. The game has received plenty of positive reviews from organizations such as Wired Magazine, IGN, ArsTechinca, Breakaway magazine, CCGR, UGO, Game Vortex, GameShark, Just Adventure and more. If you haven’t played the game, for $5.95 go get and try it yourself.

This Blog Post is made as an official statement by a representative of LEFT BEHIND GAMES Inc.

Many bloggers are wasting your time and getting people riled-up for nothing. But don’t take our word for it, please be an INFORMED and RESPONSIBLE BLOGGER, by taking moment to read what real EXPERTS have had to say. If you still don’t like what you read, get the game for free (nominal shipping charge) and judge it for yourself.

- The Anti-Defamation League: Although they speak out against the book’s theology, this is what they have to say about the PC game, “Conversion to Christianity in the game is not depicted as forcible in nature, and violence is not rewarded in the game.”

- IGN says, "To keep the balance of power in your favor, you'll have to find non-violent ways to avoid getting killed. Your units will definitely fight back in a life or death situation but, for the most part, you want to either avoid your enemies or have a ready plan to convert to your side using musicians and disciples. This gets much harder as the game progresses.”

- ArsTechnica.com says, “Many groups have made inaccurate statements about this game that need to be corrected. For one thing, it is not particularly violent. While there are violent aspects of the game, the game makes it clear that shooting is the last resort. Second, it is not hateful to other religions. It does have an agenda, and I think you need to know that going in, but there's no bashing of other faiths.” and “…the game is fun, it'll keep parents happy with its light levels of violence, and it'll be sold at video game stores, religious book stores, and everywhere else people spend money on God. This game will certainly get the message out.”

- Wired Magazine says, “So the great surprise of LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces is that it actually kind of rocks...few titles are as ambitious and as polished as this title.”

- Dallas Anderson of Billy Graham Evangelical Association says, “one of the geniuses of the Left Behind game is that it gives gamers a chance to see the consequences of poor decisions…we’re pretty excited to see that the LEFT BEHIND games were designed to provide positive moral input to a youthful generation which would otherwise not hear it.”

- LEFT BEHIND author Tim LaHaye says, “…for those who are into video games, Eternal Forces is the #1 most powerful vehicle for their hearts and minds that’s been invented in our lifetime.”

- Focus on the Family (Breakaway Magazine) says, “Overall, this is a positive faith building game worth your time and money.”

- Founder of Concerned Women for America, Beverly LaHaye says, “Here is a game we heartily recommend.”

Better yet, LB Games is giving 1,000,000 Eternal Force games away for free (with a nominal S&H/convenience fee). Try the game out for yourself – to date it has lead over 700 Gamers to the Lord. It is simple; click here and either download or have it shipped. Then once you have tried it, experienced the game first hand, you can accurately blog your opinion.
