The latest issue of Famitsu (via IGN) looks to have a Mario Kart Wii detail blowout. The upcoming kart racer, likely Nintendo's next big title after Smash Bros Brawl, will have a planned 32 courses for the game, comprised of 16 newcomers and 16 remade tracks.
You want new tracks and new tricks? The next Mario Kart also reportedly features mid-air tricks that, if pulled off successfully, will give you a boost upon landing. We suspect that will be course-specific (ramps, big drop offs, etc.) and not a sign that you'll be able to jump and twist your driver ad infinitum to speed through the race.
In addition to the 12-player online matches, you will also be able to play four-player split-screen, and ghost downloads for time trials will be available. In what sounds like it might be online-only, you can customize the game by playing as your Mii avatar on a bike or kart. Is that enough Mario Kart info to keep you satisfied for awhile? No? Why, you greedy little ...

With midair tricks and how EA ruined SSX, suddenly I went from "could give a shit less about this game" to "suddenly I want to know more... but please don't force me to buy that fucking wheel."

How else would you control it? Classic controller?

Speaking of the Guitar Hero guitar, it would be awesome to have one of the control options be the Guitar Hero guitar.

Interestingly enough, I believe that you will be able to play SSBB with the guitar controller.

Man, I hope they have downloadable tracks somewhere down the line. 32 tracks may sound like a lot now, but with one MK game a generation, it's gonna wear out before its time.
Also, did they scrap the 2-riders aspect of DD? Cause that was pretty much the best part about that game.

Everything sounds great right now. I'm still a little cautious that they will water it down for casual market, but I am looking forward to playing online battle in block fort. Or my 3 friends playing online with me vs. 4 other people online in block fort. That will be great.
This has potential, it really does but I'm cautious.

This is one game I definitely do not want motion controls in besides for menu manipulation or emblem painting. 32 tracks doesn't seem like very considering the DS version had that many. It just seems like the console version should be bigger and better.

16 newcomers? Would this be in addition to the characters from MKDS? After Rob, I'm not even sure what vat of Mario-related characters they can even dip into.
Basically, Bowser Jr. confirmed (unfortunately).

With motion-controls, the lack of mid-air tricks would had been extremely surprising.
Why am I not as hyped as everyone else about Mario Kart Wii? Maybe it's because of the godly DS version...

That's why DS Lite is for the show, DS Phat is for the pros. ;P

I have both. DS Lite is better for games you hold like a book and the stylus is more comfortable. DS Phat still has a MUCH better d-pad, though, so it's ideal for Mario Kart. Oh yeah plus I happen to have the red one with the race-car decals all over it :)

This series just doesnt do it for me anymore, the 2 person car shit sucked on cube and the skidding on the DS version just got annoying as hell. Now i have a feeling the steering controls are gonna piss off alot of people with this one Guess it'll never get as good as it was in the snes/n64 days.

uh...the DS is version pretty much played like the 64 one....
Now DD, that's a different story, the game was much more complex, seriously, I had left Mario Kart aside (blame CTR for it...lol), and then when I saw DD, damn, it was so fun, the only kart racing game in which you can play co-op?
It is fast
it is fun
it is addicting
its mario!
WHY NINTENDO! WHY WON'T YOU MAKE A SEQUEL TO DD!

Actually, my favorite Mario Kart is Double Dash... I'm expert on that game, it was and still ismy most played game since last gen.
I love the speed and the way you do the minitubos, the courses, the character balance (Toad and Koopa in the Train for me).
I prefer DD to Mario Kart DS anyday.
