Looks like you're right. The other code is for when locked on to Sonic & Knuckles, and was mislabeled.

Also, Yuji Naka was born September 17, 1965, hence the "19, 65, 09, 17" code.

I remember my older cousin showing me that on Sonic 2 and being blown away.

Dude, Sonic 2 debug mode is so legendary. It's like a game within itself.

It's been eons since I played around with these codes. In fact, it was the only way I could beat the Sonic 1 the first time through.

For those that don't know, beware: the Sonic 3 code will break you. If not your fingers, than surely your mind. I've only ever gotten the timing right a couple of times. But, that was on a Genesis pad, and nowadays you can play Sonic 3 on a zillion other consoles.

Level Select is no longer needed on my Mega Collection Sonic3&Knuckles file. Full clear with all super emeralds unlocked.

But debug, i was never able to get that to work in Sonic3, i might just give it a shot once i beat NMH, but before i get back into Radiant Dawn

I feel like I missed out on half my life.

in other unrelatedness... this reminds me of the nyuknyuk code in jurrassic park for genesis that was also awesome. You got unlimited ammo and could place dr. grant anywhere you wanted, through walls and such.

I thought I was the only one who could never get the darn Sonic 3 code to work either..ah well.

BTW 1992 1124 and 4126 was the debug mode indeed, but you had to input 19,65,9,17 to get to the level select screen in order to put those in IIRC
