Vanity Fair covers Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Laugh all you want, but it's a big deal when a magazine as mainstream as Vanity Fair dedicates a sizable chunk of content to legitimate game coverage. VF writer Frank DiGiacomo visited Skywalker Ranch to take a look at the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and walked away impressed with nearly everything he saw.
In a massive 4,000-word feature, DiGiacomo covers everything there is to know thus far about The Force Unleashed, from the game's storyline, to its advanced use of three different physics engines, to the people hard at work developing it. Though lengthy, the article is a must-read for anyone following the development of the latest Star Wars title, or anyone curious to watch Vanity Fair up the ante for mainstream game journalists.

Did you count all 4000+ words? :P
Seriously, I can't wait to give Georgie even more of my money.

I bet FOX really wishes they got marketing rights from Lucas back in the 70s. I also bet all the studios that said no to Star Wars are pretty much, well, saying fuck.

Oh my sweet Jesus on toast. All of that–that entire article–all of you must read it. I'm so psyched beyond reason...and I'm not even that big of a Star Wars fan. Sigh. Video games. I love them.

SabreCat @ Feb 6th 2008 10:14PM
Hearing about the "Plastic Man" stormtrooper makes me wish they'd include an outtake reel. I bet it'd be both fascinating and hilarious. ^.^

Ooooo.... Sure it may be Vanity Fair but this is big.
Being a major Star Wars fan myself all I can say is.... w000000t!

I absolutely can not wait for this game to get released. The excitement is eating away at me like a cancer.
Seattle Yonkers @ Feb 6th 2008 10:37PM
Why did this game have to be delayed?!
Seriously, this game could suck (it won't) and I would love it. I'm such a Star Wars fanboy it's not even funny. Slap the Star Wars name on anything and you've got my money. It's a little sad if you think about it. But I won't think about it.

I have star wars soap. Its not exactly a game, but one can get creative with it ...

Man, I could not be more horny for this game...
ZapDash @ Feb 6th 2008 11:42PM
Wasn't there some unfavorable review they did of some Nintendo game? I kind of remember one but can't find anything about it.
ZapDash @ Feb 7th 2008 12:19AM
My bad, it was Variety.
That article was so awesome, and the last bit talking about the gameplay . . . WOW!
ZapDash @ Feb 7th 2008 12:21AM
This article, not the bad Mario review.
Now I need only two more comment revisions to become uber-loser of the web!

Vanity Fair has had some sort of crush on Star Wars the last decade... Huge photo essays devoted to each of the prequels before each one hit, and now this.
Not that I'm mad, I've been way too much of a Star Wars fan myself. Can't get enough.
DangerMouse @ Feb 7th 2008 12:14AM
I hope the acting is better than episodes 1-3. Really though, that's not asking for much now, is it?
PointyThings @ Feb 7th 2008 1:05AM
This is actually really refreshing after all that bullshit recently about Mass Effect, Xbox crack, ect. Vanity Fair has some good Goddamned writers and this shows it. It's flattering, accurate, and even touches on something like Gamestop's used game empire. Best of all, it's written so your parents can read and understand it, and it's something that Ebert can shove up his fat ass.
Delgado @ Feb 7th 2008 8:56PM
"and it's something that Ebert can shove up his fat ass."
+1

Just like any other normal person I too am completely excited about this game.
Its gonna be ridiculously good I think. Hopefully it will be a long game.
