How is Skydiving? Anyone tried it out?

Lost planet demo didn't work for me... I can't connect to a game (always says it's full).

It sucks that it's multiplayer only. And to make matters worse, shooting seems to be mapped to R2 instead of R1, when will people learn? Sigh. Way to go Capcom.

From what I gather on the nets, MP was the best part of the game. Get them hooked on MP and slide an inferior SP version with added content for the money.

Same thing with Turok and Conflict: Denied Ops. Both games used the R2 as 'fire weapon'. Kinda annoying when they don't give you the option to switch button layout. They just have that 'ported' feeling to me. Same goes for Lost Planet.

No way; the singleplayer was fantastic. Those were some of the best boss battles I have ever played.

I'm tempted to give skydiving a shot. I don't know if it controls with the six axis or not. I just don't want to buy a game like that only to discover it's stick based.

Ugh... I am torn....

The game, so far, is essentially two minigames. One controls well just expects you to know a SHITTON about inertia and wind dynamics, the other is frustrating to control. Whether or not a third minigame is unlocked I do not know. There is a ???? entry in the menu that I have to beat S ranked landing to unlock.

game boots by telling you to read the manual... good thing it's built in and in HTML?!? Wha?!? I got an initial chuckle from Captain Rainbow. He looks like a crossbreed between that Pig villian on Captain Planet, Super Dave Osborne, and the Bookmobile guy from South Park. But he's only the tutorial guy...

Anywho, the first minigame is a formation spree. You control you're character as if we is in a labyrinth rather than from his perspective. Aka, tilting controls his movement on the screen. You get into your highlighted position (B ranked always shows, A rank barely shows you, S rank just flashes your position) and hold out your hands to grab fellow divers. Here is where the problem comes in, spinning. You start spinning by rotating your controller, stop by rotating clockwise. So essentially it forces the player to control in all six axis simulaneously... which would be nice, if it worked. Instead you'll find your characters rotation starting and stopping on a damn near random basis. Since the Landing mode isn't opposed to utilizing the control sticks, spinning in the mode would have been handled much better with the sticks. Essentially this portion of the game is broken...

Landing is really where it's at but this portion has a HUGE learning curve. Initially you hold shoulder buttons and tilt the controller to perform stunts. How is a mystery to me since the manual only shows PICTURES of the stunts rather than how to perform them. So sometimes I've racked up 2000 points before pulling the parachute, other times I've only gotten ~700. More experimentation is needed here. once you've pulled your chord, you go into landing mode which is a hell of a lot more fun. Sticks control rip chords and leening controls minute changes. Hitting the small as target can be a huge difficulty on your first couple goes. I prefer the Pilotwings method myself where starters get huge targets before expecting percision on that level.

Essentially it goes like this. If you feel you would enjoy spending $5 for a parachute landing minigame, it's a good buy. Personally, I would have preferred they take the Go! Puzzle route here and allowed me to buy only the landing game since formation mode is broken.

Sadly, I do not see the comedy in what you're laughing about. It's sad.

It's sad that yet another company is pulling a half-assed port and expecting full price for their efforts despite the fact that I played and beat Lost Planet a year ago.

It's sad that, rather than go the full package which would include all the DLC, Capcom is basically giving PS3 everything the $20 cheaper PC version had and one additional character.

And it's sad that a fellow PS3 owner (or so you claim) would take delight in such a shitty tactic. Pointing and laughing at a system you paid $400+ for. This is the part that amuses me the most. There is comedy that a company is half-assing their efforts (DMC install time... same amount of data as Ridge Racer 7's install yet takes four times as much time) on a system you own? This is hilarious to you?

You have neither the sense of comedy nor a sense of irony. Pro-choice all the way for me, baby.

@ Wong:

Dude, are you on crack? The PS3 version of Lost Planet includes all of the DLC from XBL, has a new playable character, and is only $40!

Christ's sake . . . do some research before you run your mouth.

Wow, EvoAnubus... consider me misinformed...

I had heard it was a no frills, no budget port of the PC version. The $40 price tage changes my opinion of it, slightly. I just gotta work it into the budget somehow. Especially since my 360 copy sits unloved and unused since I refuse to buy another 360 until the Jaspers ship.

We could go on talking about the Lost Planet demo and Go! Sports Skydiving, but we have bigger matters to attend to.

Crash Bandicoot: Warped is here.

Is that a joke or... I really can't tell.

In any case I had no idea about another Crash cash-in but if you have to have a PS3 platformer get Rachet & Clank, it was awesome.

For anyone who didn't play it on the 360, don't bother buying the game but do download the online demo. Once you're bored with it you'll never have to play the game because well... that's about all there is to it.

I still have my original CD of Warped.

I enjoyed Warped back in the day, but it has not stood up to the test of time. Warp's linear paths feel very limiting now. In hindsight, I feel that Spyro's free-roaming worlds are much more advanced, and Tail Concerto's story and presentation are much better than Crash Bandicoot Warped.

Go Sports Skydiving is not good. I was hoping for a Pilotwings sort of experience, but it's not. I suppose for $5, it's like renting a bad game. So I'm not too disappointed.

I can't wait til PSN has loads of quality games like XBLA. I also wished Sony would make trials of EVERY game they sell on PSN like XBLA does. You never have to question if you'll like a game or not because you get to try it out first.

The Lost Planet demo was buggy and incomplete.

- First time I ran it, my screen said "no signal", and I had to reboot my PS3. It ran the second time.

- There is no single player mode. They want us to jump into a multi-player match without even being familiar with the game?

- I couldn't even join a multi-player game, the matches were always full, except twice when I got connection errors.

Sounds like they brought over their 360 experience on that game quite well.... BA-ZING!

Seriously, it took a month and a half before the multi in Lost Planet became playable...

Meh, a game is a game, Capcom isn't exactly PS3s reliable source for games this time round, so I guess alternatives are in place. Sony, stick to your guns and back Namco, Konami, Rockstar and Square if you have any intention of making a comeback :)
