React Recharge Dock powers 4 Wiimotes for $50
24
React's Wii Recharge Dock isn't just a little bit late to the party but, at $50, it's a little pricier than some of the competition. But then we got to figuring that since it charges the four included 550 mAh batteries in four Wiimotes, not just two, the proportional value is clear. And considering the Wiimote is scientifically proven to eat batteries the way Mario downs mushrooms, some of you might consider a device such as this nothing short of a necessity, what with Brawl coming soon and all.

Gosh that... actually looks like a really good deal. Plus it matches the Wii style so it won't look out of place.
I may end up getting this.

I'd actually buy that but I like having my wiimote condoms on and it seems like a hassle to keep taking them off to charge it.

Very cool design, i love stuff with blue leds, at night my room looks like a nuke sub command station.
(Saitek blue led gamers keyboard, razer copperhead blue, samsung 226bw monitor, saitek x52 flight controller and tsunami dream case with blue fans and leds and hp ps8230 which also has blue leds for its controls lol. Even my RCA Alarm clock's black light if from blue leds). The only thing without blue leds on my desk is Optimus Prime, his matrix is yellow! WTF!)

I've considered whether I should get one of these Wii-specific rechargable solutions, or just get rechargable AA batteries.
This is certainly pushing me towards the former option.

Beautiful accessory.
Is it wrong to fantasize about a 4-wiimote charger for only one dude, as I'd continually be playing on the Wii while the 3 others charge in synchrony?

ok, that was pretty corny but its late...getting late. anyway, i dont see anything wrong with that. i mean my friends arent going to be over everyday, and even then we split time between PS3 and Wii. so yea having the other 3 charging while you solo game doesnt sound wrong to me. only thing i would worry about is over charging.

Did anyone notice the 550MaH capacity of the batteries? Norma double-a batteries have about 2000MaH, so these will last about a fourth of the amount of time you would have with normal batteries. Your better off getting a bunch of rechargeable batteries and a charger that isnt a stand for 20 dollars.

Agreed! When I saw 550mAh I actually blinked and read it again to make sure I understood correctly. I use Sanyo Eneloop rechargables which are 2000mAh and already feel like I have to change the batteries on the Wiimotes too often for the casual usage the Wii gets. That being said, maybe the point with the Recharge Dock is that you don't need lots of power, only enough to get you through a single gaming session. After that, you just put the remote back in the dock and by the time you come back, the remotes are already charged up for round 2. The only reason battery capacity is important right now is to lengthen the time between cracking open the back to replace the batteries, but that becomes entirely unnecessary with this device. Hmm...
I'm hoping a gaming site (hi there, Jostiq!) will buy one and try it out. If the battery can last for 3-4 hours of gaming per session and the recharge time is less than 3-4 hours, then I think I might just have to get one of these!

550mAh? Is that a typo? What is that, maybe 2 hours of play time?
You can get rechargeable AA's at 2500mAh and a charger for less then this. And those batteries work in anything that takes AA batteries, like your 360's wireless controller.
This thing is a complete ripoff, like most Wii battery packs.

I would just get regular rechargables. You can get a bunch of 2500mAh batteries and a charger that will juice 8 at a time. They last forever between charges, they're compatible with every wireless controller you own, and they're pretty-much future proof unless the next round of consoles have controllers running on hydrogen cells or some silliness.

i want one of these charger stands for when Brawl comes out so im starting to shop around now. this on looks good in design but i dont know about 550MaH. i would just get rechargeable AA's but i have had such trouble with them in the past dying on me. i think i overcharge them or something. either way, they always die and stop charging. i actually just tossed a rechargeable set of AAA's that had been in my wireless mouse because they stopped holding a charge. that said, these docking stations seem to work a little better.
