Twisted Metal PS3 revealed in hidden code
69
Sure enough, "buried deep" (well, not that deep) within Twisted Metal: Head On - Extra Twisted Edition is the answer to every Metal head's burning headache, er, desire: METAL IS COMING ON PSTHREE. The code, embedded in the game's "Dark Past" documentary as a series of numbers, ensures the franchise will take at least one more victory lap before puttering into uncertainty. Just how Jaffe and company plan to overhaul the oh-so-90s motif, remains the one, true secret. May we suggest going hybrid?

I hope it's not simply a download title because if it's a genuine and proper sequel to Twisted Metal: Black then that alone would be enough for me to purchase a PS3.
A 60GB version. Used. For under $200. If I have extra spending cash. But the point is, I would be actually begin investigating avenues related to getting the system.

Yo Jerk Face... May I ask how you have become a doctor. Is that a PH in BS?

Joystiq, are you ever going to stand up to these two and stop them from taking over your comments section on every post? Maybe these trolls really do work for you. It really is the only thing that explains why they are allowed to troll all day, every day.

Are you saying I'm a troll?
..
I really don't think I troll. I just don't like Twisted Metal.. I mean.. The PS3 is fine.
*shrug*
Whatever.
Just because I am cool with Fernando doesn't mean I am a troll. Or that he is.
And for the record, Mario Kart IS better than TM. Just saying.

Oh Mr. fwacce (however you pronounce that name),
There's a difference, a large and vast gap, between Fernando/Jerk Face and you.
They've been lurking on Joystiq for so long that whatever they say is regarded as "serious business" internet style.
In other words, the crowd loves these gladiators but nobody knows who the HELL you are, Mr. default Mario avatar.

The series didn't do too well in the transition from PSX to PS2, but now we're talking about the PS3? It could be worth seeing, but my bet remains (as series' have done before) that'll it'll be anderwhelming, of at least interesting release.
In a nutshell, to Jerk, "YOU ARE CORRECT, SIR!".

Sure it did. Twisted Metal Black was a great game that got really good reviews. Just because they didn't pump a new one out every year doesn't mean it didn't do well.

Wait, PS2's Twisted Metal didn't make a good transision? The fuck?!? Maybe your idea of a stray missile shooting down a 747 to crash into a level to reveal a new secret area or smashing a ferris wheel loose to rampage across the suburbs before finally rolling into the ocean isn't your idea of "transitioning" well... but it sure is mine. I can't wait to see what crazy stuff Twisted Metal will have on PS3.

black did just fine. While I loved 2, black is still my favorite!

Mario Kart >>>>>> Twisted Metal...
Twisted Metal has ugly designs, uninspired weapons and arenas...
I prefer playing a game where you actually needs skills, with races... I know Twisted Metal is about killing the others, but I still prefer the ballon fights in Mario Kart... is more fun hit your friends with shells (specially green shells, I feel like they are harder than the red ones)...
Besides, Jaffe sucks.

how the hell can you compare Mario Kart to Twisted Metal? Twisted Metal isnt even a racing game, it's a fighting game where you just happen to be in a car.

Dudes,
The balloons in Mario Karts are part of the Battle Mode.
Mario Karts might had been a racing game to begin with, but I'd be damned if nowadays, battles didn't have as much significance.

Exactly, because we all know Mario Kart is pretty much the same as Gran Turismo. Next, you'll be telling me that Brawl is a deeper fighting game than Street Fighter! Oh wait, you already did.

I think it's a little obvious they're working on a new Twisted Metal game considering they hid a clue in another TM game. Still, TM is a wicked series when its actual creators work on it. I await with open arms. And honestly, fuck any and all haters.

screw it. it was great shot at his ego...
there was ton of thought put into there level design, secrets and all, along with the feel of the game overall. The fact that instead of putting on pajamas to take someone else's balloons away is your frikin opinion and not a design flaw, twit.

Comparing Mario Kart and Twisted Metal is comparing apples and oranges.

Twisted Metal isn't exactly a top-tier IP nowadays, but it certainly still has a lot of merit. It wouldn't take much for it to be a top-tier IP again, either. The past two (three if you count the Ps2 Head-On port) titles have been well above average, and certainly helped make up for Twisted Metal 3 and 4.
They're on the right track, and have been for some time. Hopefully that will continue with the Ps3 offering.

Yea it kind of dropped off the important radar. A weak series that should have been put to bed with Destruction Derby. "Meh" here.

DM was a series that rightfully outlived its purpose and died a graceful death. TM should have taken this road long ago.

I'm not the first to say "apples and oranges," but, yeah. Saying you prefer Mario Kart to Twisted Metal is tantamount to saying you prefer Mario Galaxy to Doom 3. The games don't even attempt to do the same thing, so I really don't see how or why the comparison comes about.

I have to give this a middle type MEH....
Sorry...the series peaked at TWISTED METAL 2.....
and while TM: BLACK was good....it didn't have the same feel and accessibility as TM2.
Is it because they keep using the same characters over and over?? Is it because Vehicular Combat is not such a new idea anymore? Is it because the controls became more complicated?
I don't know......Just like all the sequels to alot of the original titles on PS1 that won us over (Warhawk, Wipeout, Twisted Metal).....they leave something to desire versus the originals.
The game that NEEDS a real next-gen update is DESTRUCTION DERBY......too bad CRITERION can't make it.....and a real Single Player WARHAWK is still sooo desired.

Ummm... TMB controlled almost identically to TM2. Even the special moves were the same. And unlike TM2, TMB didn't feature any instant death levels (I remember HATING the iceberg level that collapsed constantly).
And since Twisted Metal Black was a complete reboot of series and it's story, it was accessable as well.

TMB had a rooftops as well so they did have an instant death level.

That just depends, if your friends knew combos and freeze rays. The most common tactic amongst us was freezing others as we raced for the next section.
