DICE 08: Microsoft owns Crackdown IP, sequel an 'option'
53
Despite the dynamic pairing of good sales and majority acclaim for Crackdown, Shane Kim grew cagey when questioned about the status of a sequel at DICE, during an interview with Game|Life. "I don't really want to talk about that discussion," said Kim when asked to comment on reports that Realtime Worlds would not develop a sequel to last year's successful super-cop sandbox shooter. What Kim did clarify is that Microsoft owns the Crackdown IP and is free to pursue development of a sequel with a new studio. "I think that customers would like to see more in that space," Kim vaguely noted, "So that's an option for us."

More like Activision these days. They could add it on to that list they just announced of more Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk, Call of Duty, and whatever else.

Realtime Worlds is busy working on APB, which basically sounds like a GTA MMO. However, I've been noticing job postings from them all over the internet.
Crackdown 2 would be sweet. There's just so much more room for improvement in a game that was already so much fun. 4-player co-op and a longer campaign and I'm in.

I disagree with your assessment of this particular game.

I'm probably in the minority, but I enjoyed Crackdown far more than I enjoyed Halo 3. In fact, I really didn't care that Halo beta was included. Crackdown was such a great game if you played through the entire story, and was even more fun when played with friends.
It really does deserve a sequel.

Halo 3 blows my agents nightstick. Crackdown was freaking great. I love comics and besides Incredible Hulk on Ps2 and assassins creed this game delivered on the heroics. The game was pure FUN. The achievements were fun as well. The music was great and the only thing a sequel needs is supervillians and a good hand to hand combat system for epic city wide fights!

OVERRATED? Are you freaking kidding me? This game is easily one of the most UNDERRATED games out there and easily a top 3 overall game on the 360.
I would much rather have a sequel to this than another sequel to Halo or Call of Duty. Hell, I would wipe all memories of Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 I had and have those games removed from existence if it meant we could get a sequel to Crackdown. Pretty much the only sequel to any game (on any platform) that I want over Crackdown is Gears 2.

That game had a lot of potential but it was too short and seriously collecting orbs was just plain boring, the street racer thing could've been good but it was meh and it felt cheap but at least it gave you something to do.
The "Keys of the city" mode was amazingly fun too bad you couldn't earn achievements, I wouldn't mind collecting orbs in that mode.

Crackdown at the end wasn’t a bad game and it was more enjoyable than AC even when AC suppose to be better.
I think Crackdown has potential to be a super special awesome game for example they could make vehicles useful this time or better yet copy/paste Pursuit Force elements.
They could also add more gangs,a story mode and for the love of good improve online co-op, local co-op wouldn’t hurt either.
