PGR4 DLC brings new cars, modes, achievements

Not content to let their premiere racer rest with just a release and a quick update, Bizarre Creations is offering up new downloadable content for Project Gotham Racing 4. The content is split into two downloadable packs:

Free Challenge Pack (free download!)

A playable, hydrogen-powered Peugeot Flux
Tourist Mode - Just drive around the city and admire the scenery with no explicit goal
"Free Roam" Cat and Mouse Mode - Implements the delayed updates previously discussed here
Seven unlockable achievements

Premium Challenge Pack (400 MS points)
Includes all the content of the Free Challenge Pack, PLUS:

Seven new cars - Including the "1987 BMW M3 E30 DTM," whatever that means
World Challenge Arcade Mode - With 20 new events in three themed chapters
Three more unlockable achievements

The packs will be available for download on Feb. 14, just in time to play Cat and Mouse with your valentine.

You think that PGR4 is a racing SIM? Lol far from it. It is a nice game but to call this a SIM would be like calling... well Mario Kart a SIM racer.

It may not be a sim, but it has very good driving dynamics and handling.

Its a realisitc arcade racer - thats how I'd put it.

Yeah that sounds about right. Not quite realistic enough to be a SIM and yet not "fake" enough to be an arcade racer.

Am I correct in reading that you have to pay to download additional achievements? What the eff is that?!

Not like that is something new to xbox360 DLC. Nothing says that the developer is obligated to give that additional 250 achievement points away in DLC for free. If nothing else look at it as you getting your moneys worth. And at 400 points it really isn't that bad of a deal considering the other things you get.

my guess is it is the way of the future, nickle and dime the games up so you do not realize that you paying over $100 for it by the time it is all said and done with

just glad to see that bizarre is stilling putting out dlc for a MS published game since they got bought up by activision. though that might have been in the contract...

"1987 BMW M3 E30 DTM". that would be maybe the greatest BMW ever made. Forza included it in their December car pack, too. Its about time racing games realize they need to begin including this car...

I say Micro should add none existent cars :) Like the Ferrari F90 :P

Maybe I'm lame but tourist mode sounds cool and a great free addition that I'd be curious to try out.

Wow, suddenly I do care when my 360 comes back from being fixed (again).

Why yay for free content that should/could have been in the game from the start?

Maybe i'm just suspicious, but is this trend of announcing new DLC the day after release, for download a month after the release, a way to stop people selling their copies after 3 days and reduce the impact of the 2nd-hand market?

Olaf Manthey won the Norisring round of the 1987 DTM in this car..
