Exploits in SSBM, removed in SSBB according to reports. L-cancelling allowed you to perform a move but cut the animation short. Wave dashing was a way to move around quickly, but really it was useless.

I voted for Gamer PALs, by the way.

Two tricks apparently used by the Smash Bros elite (i never quite got the hang of them myself), Wave dashing utilized somewhat of a physics glitch to increase your speed. L Cancelling cancels attacks.

I'm amazed that so few people know those techs. I figured most people had seen them done at least once.

And what idiot went and called them useless!? You're kidding right?
It is next to impossible to play at a high level without those techs...well, I mean you can play but it won't be fun.

Note: I'm speaking as someone who has always hated the pedantics of advanced techs. I'm glad they are gone...and will likely be replaced with some other way to capitalize on slight framerate delays.

A tough week to choose. Digital Unrest (as always) was good, so was MNC, DA, and Gamer PALs

I picked MNC, just because i'm in a Star Wars mood today(just finished a few missions on Rogue Leader)

I would really like to see Kirk in Sould calibur.

Excellent comic week! I loved every single one of them, for once, so it was a hard choice. =)

I chose Captain Kirk because it's hard finding a plausible awesome choice to pwn to Vader and Yoda (as everyone knows that Chuck Norris, Mr. T and Technoviking have too much awesome to be contained on a game disc, even on Blu-ray).

RPG-TV did great, and N-Europe almost got my vote.

Looks like Kirk pulled a Kobayashi maru on the poll. Regardless, it's nice to see that we are getting some good feedback. Thanks!

How is it that Bargain Bin Heroes was overlooked? It's a great - nay, epic - MMO comic, and it didn't get nominated.

It's a great comic with a unique style (and I'm not just saying that because I blog for WanderingGoblin.com ;)

In the PA comic, he's not speaking Sanskrit, he's speaking Hindi. Sanskrit is to Hindi as Latin is to Italian (almost exactly, actually.) And he's not actually saying a pickup line, he's just saying someone's name.

Since when are comics or anything amusing supposed to be accurate? The fact is irrelevant to the punchline it's trying to bring across. Not that there was one in any of these comics this week anyway.

Well, I still found it funny, just not as funny and layered as Tycho could have made it. Consider: the Kama Sutra was written in Sanskrit.

Comics don't to be accurate? Of course! Shouldn't be accurate? Definitely not! Consider: when the Simpsons writers wrote the episode where Homer climbs the Murderhorn (I believe the name of the ep. is King of the Hill) they phoned various experts in order to get proper Sherpa dialogue for Homer's Sherpas. Who cares? Linguists like me! It makes me feel good that some writers are willing to go that extra mile to get 'la mot juste'.

Agree. I am sometimes annoyed by inaccurate writing, and prefer when writers really work out all the details

Like the Libyans in Back to the Future, DVD commentary says they spoke gibberish, not Arabic, a sad disappointment for a movie which is so great (one of my favorites), and usually so attentive to detail

It really doesn't matter, but it's always appreciated

Dude I know how you feel about inaccuracies but you can;t expect everyone to do their homework. I used to think that too when the fine folks at Joystiq and X3F can't say "Unterhaltungs Selbst Kontrolle" properly in their respective podcasts but I have to keep in mind that these people are not German and I am thus I know how to say it properly and they don't. I can;t expect them to take lessons or repeat the words over and over again to the point where they sound like they "have done their homework". I am not the kind of person that demands this from people as I understand that some of this stuff is harder for others than it is for me or you. But again, the comedic factor is still there for the general audience and people get the idea.

As for movies I actually find it more funny for them to speak Mock German than real German cause it's a lot more amusing.

I know there was a disturbing lack of "Cake" and "Lie" in this weeks selection, but most of the interwebs have decided to move on to new jokes. Don't worry, a new meme will emerge for you to latch onto soon enough, I'm sure.

Yeah, 'cause that makes total sense, for someone to avoid reading the comics for a week based on the fact that they didn't like any of the ones that week. And I like how you just went and assumed his reasoning was due to a lack of Portal-related comics, as if there was, y'know, any grounds for that whatsoever.

Guys I never even played portal yet (no time to) so I don't get these references at all until I play it. I have to read the comics to know if they are not funny unless u want me to be like the fine people at fox news. I read them anyway because I hope the next week they are better.
