Video games, Government/war, Religion/war/genocide.

I don't see an "or" up there,so my response is "all the above".You can never go wrong with that answer.

By the way cars have killed more people than any war and no one gives a flying sh!t.

CoD4 was meant to show the harshness of war if you think of it. Pretty much everyone dies except Soap and Price (that is debatable). The game is pretty realistic, so it is completely believable that it would trigger a flashback of war if you are a solider.

You are rescued by the good Russians in the end.

So that’s how it feels.

I did it for the lulz.

COD4 is a very intense game. While its of course no substitute for experiencing something like a real war, it doesn't mean it can't remind someone of something terrible that happened to them.

I mean, the poor guy watched his friend get torn up in front of him. Playing the game probably made him start thinking about it and he began replaying it in his head, and took off because he had no way to deal with what he was feeling. The same thing could've happened if he was watching a war movie, or even reading a book could've triggered something if it reminded him of that awful situation.

I hope he gets found and is all right... My best wishes to him and his family.

He was probably so disgusted by the fact that the knife kills you instantly but bullets only wound you, so in anger he went into the forest to let off some steam.

[THIS IS A JOKE, I WISH THE BEST OF LUCK TO THIS MAN]

I think the game will be far more conciliatory to the experience of war than extenuating. It's a game that seems to understand what it is to be in conflict more than other games.

i remember hearing about this sort of thing in psychology. apparently the majority of soldiers that return from war suffer from some type of post-traumatic stress. it certainly must be expected with the type of stuff they have to see over there. a game with such a modern basis could certainly trigger a flashback in a newly retired soldier too. lets all hope he's alright. i may not support the war, but you have to support the troops cause if THEY werent the troops, I would be the troops.

Let's be real: this is like an alcoholic going to a bar or an obese person going to McDonalds (remember that lawsuit? The one where the two fat chicks sued McDonalds for making them fat?): the cause of the problem is not what continues the problem, it's the root of the problem. In those cases, it's the internal mechanism that made them keep on drinking or keep on eating.

Here, the cause isn't CoD4 but the military's inability to properly care for their veterans - a lot of veterans have PTSD and the military isn't helping them get therapy for it.

I think part of the problem may be that the VA isn't getting as much funding as before. I seem to remember them having to close quite a few of their hospitals as a result.

At least, that's my understanding of what's going on, and I obviously don't know much... At least, it would account for all of the veterans who aren't getting the help they need.

i can't even imagine what the guy is feeling right now. and i hope to whatever higher power exists that they're guiding him right now.

like his father said, if he doesn't want to be found, he probably won't. let's hope he cools down before we find out he did something horrible to himself or someone else.

Yeah, this isn't really a joke. My bro-in-law recently got back from Iraq and I asked how he would feel playing a game like this (after I described it a little). He didn't really answer me, but was obviously thinking about it - so I assumed that he wasn't ready and I told him to avoid it for now cause it's so dang intense. He loves games like this so I know he'll try it out one day; but I think those of us that weren't there could never really understand what it was like then, or what it is like when you come home.

I'll be praying for Hall and his family.

There are almost 200,000 homeless veterans in the U.S.

Support the troops (especially after they get home). You don't have to support the war to help these human beings who have been used and thrown away.

Having done the war thing and having played the game I can say the NVG sections are spot on with the way you will see stuff with a set of 4949's on (twin tube NVG's used in flight) Its pretty damn amazing. Also the AC130 part is spot on as well, looks more "predatorish" but the conversation going on in the aircraft is about right.

Well sadly, he wasnt found alive. I live in the area and my boyfriend and his dad searched for him almost every night. And I must say that I appreciate those who actually said they cared and hoped he was found alive. And all those who just went off about the video game and made jokes and laughed about it, I hope you choke and die. He defended this country, was traumatized and yall go and make jokes? You sit here and dog on his friends saying he must ahve crappy friends (thats even if he played it with friends or played it all) But look at you, I dont see any off yall getting off your ass to defend this country. So shut your fucking mouth. Pussies.
