Heh, the firefights are funny.
They're just circle-strafing trying to hit each other.

Yeah.

Man, this is not what I was expecting. :s

The graphics look a lot better, but then that wasn't hard to improve over the first Vegas. They also look way too clean, may be just the level, though the characters suffer from it as well looks like.

WTF did they do to the gameplay though? It's like they made this game with just one thing in mind: "moar Haloz!". Is the cover mechanic really gone completely? Seems like it's just run and gun, spray and pray. If it's gonna play the way it looks then count me out.

Also, that level design looked like it plays like ass. There's nothing more enjoyable than having gaping holes in the ceiling right at the bomb placement location in addition to having like 4 entrances on your own level. Fuck this makes me so angry.

This game just changed from a "definatly maybe" to a "euhm let's wait for a demo" buy.

Wow, for game developers, they REALLY suck at playing their own game. Good god, they would get smoked if they beta'd this online! Also, like everyone else, I think the graphics are ugly. It reminds me of HL2 when it first came out.

Yeah, if they removed the cover system they have basically ruined this game. R6 Vegas had the best cover system in my opinion, the trigger control for made it so easy to use. And it was what made the game special. Now this one is just a rip off of CoD. I really hope they still have cover and just weren't using it.

The one great thing among many that COD 4 did right was limit the amount of ammo in all the weapons so that if you sprayed and prayed like they did in this video you will run out of ammo quick.
Let’s not even get into the Halo style grenade tossing that Rainbow six has picked up over the years as well…ugh

I never played Vegas , mostly because it looked like one of those games that require you to play online to get some juice out of it but people said it had the best cover mechanics (something that was really cool in G.O.W ) in gaming history. Combine that with COD4 limited ammo and character customization and the result should be a very interesting multiplayer experience or one of the most frustrating experiences ever.

I have to say that I hope that’s the worst map in the game because I don’t like it one bit. The wall climbing looks like a good way to get killed.

Rainbow Six Vegas had infinite ammo in practice, if you died alot and kept the same gun, or most people had the same gun you would walk around and within 30 seconds have 20+ clips.
This became very irritating when you had campers as they would never run out of Ammo. If you played Calypso Casino Attack and Defend, a common thing would be for the defenders to gather 30+ clips, head to the heli-pad after 3 mins, and then just spray anyone on defense that tried to climb the heli-pad. You couldn't even wait for them to run out of ammo, and even if they did the pistol has infinite ammo, so they would use the glock with extra large mag which was the same as having 2 sub-machine guns.

Then they would find the point which meant instant death half-way up the staircase, but un-reachable to frags or sniper bullets.

They could have at least made the wood splinter and/or break. I mean the guy practically emptied a clip through those boards and they didn't even as much show a dent.

But complaints aside i LOVE R6V so i know ill be playin the hell out of this one with reckless abandon and no fear of splinters. LOL

I actually liked the look, it'd be better if they made it more cartoony though. Maybe add different classes, make the interface more big and cartoonish. Would be intersexing.

Considering that R6:Vegas's best feature was it's fantastic cover control (it made GOW feel clunky), it's pretty sad that the multi-player demo of it's successor couldn't figure out how to expand on it's smooth ability to duck behind and pop out of cover.

I would assume Unreal 3 as Vegas used that, although it was such an early version many called it Unreal 2.5 but I don't see why.

Multiplayer graphics were never as sharp as the singleplayer. SP was pretty sharp looking, so I just hope it's the same as last time.

MP was always pretty fun though, back in the day when there wasn't much else out. But now with the likes of COD4 and Halo 3 out, it's got tough competition.

Well, at least they're adding some sort of exp system, the multiplayer is a bit better, and that the game doesn't seem so cluttered.

2. It seems like it now takes a lot more bullets to kill enemies.

With COD4 now out and the king of the crop as terms of modern day and military shooters, the bar has all of a sudden been raised so high that it is going to be really hard to match it, let alone go above and beyond.

That being said, R6V2 in terms of other modern day shooters actually looks above most of the mediocre shooters that are out there. However because of COD4, they are going to have to do a lot more to get people away from that and playing R6V2 online instead.

the only thing that would make RS6 better, would be a faster implementation of the aiming.

before i ever played cod4 i was perfectly happy with pressing down a stick to get my sights up, but even then i never used the red dot or iron sights because they were basically useless in the scheme of things.

in cod4 though, your sights make all the difference and the easy left trigger operation was great. of course, this is the issue - left trigger on rs6 is the awesome cover mechanic, so how do you get both?

CoD4 wasn't the first game to use LT for down barrel aiming, in fact even CoD2 which had it wasn't the first.

I don't know which game was, but I am sure Timesplitters on the PS2 used the R1, if not some other PS2 games I played did.

Some of you really should watch more videos. The cover system is still there, its been shown. I like the implementation of a sprint, and getting off the rappels seem faster. And I'm sure they're just running and gunning more in this video to show off more things. Keep your pants on people.

Yeah, that must be the inspiration they took from COD4. Seriously I think I'm the only person who actually scopes in when they fire. Anyway I'm upset this game doesn't look prettier, that was my major issue with the first. That and the cover system seemed akward and tacked on. Sure some of you may think it was good, but it wasn't fluid. Didn't seem to blend in seemlessly.

I loved the cover system in RB6. It's the only one I've ever liked in a game. I didn't like the GoW system because sometimes you'd get sucked into walls you didn't want to cling on. And, sometimes you'd get stuck on the wall.

Yeah I understand the frustration with the Gears of War cover system but honestly it felt like they decided it would be included from the start of development. It felt natural fluid and as long as you meant to take cover it was predictable whereas Vegas' cover system felt tacked on.
Sure you wouldn't snap to surfaces randomly, but sometimes when you peaked around a corner your entire body would swing out, leaving you confused, vulnerable and disoriented. Not only that but occasionally when one took cover the game would glitch and the character would appear to be floating in a black void filled with purple lights in the distance while also spinning your character/camera and disorienting the player. It just seemed so tacked on is all, like an afterthought. The opening and breaching of doors was a neat aspect of cover though, plus they managed to make it work in a FPS without feeling to odd and the transition from first to third person was smooth. Then there was the aspect of slow moving gameplay, taking cover slowed your advancement tremendously. The act of moving in and out of cover was a bit too slow, and only proved effective when holding a specific location and not safe passage up a field or area.

Finally there is the disappointment of zooming out into first person and realizing that your amazingly awesome character in the outfitting section has been reduced to a skinny gangly, tiny headed, hunchbacked freak of nature.

when i look at this video, I cant help but believe that the rainbow six team took a lot of inspiration for COD 4. the fact that I really love and played a lot of R6:V and that I really dont like COD4 makes me a little worried about this sequel... ( I guess Im the only one in this boat ).

Graphics or not, this game is going to be good if not great.

***spoiler ahead***

The cover system is still in the game

COD4 Sucks ass, the game is so boring, every single game i have ever played was exactly the same. Atleast with RSV you had the opportunity to mix things up, like terrorist hunt, or coop, or any of the mltiplayer modes. You had a crap load of weapons so you can pick and choose the perfect match for you, and it wasn't a dull spray and prey like some idiots on this board will have you believe. When your running low on ammo, and you have no frags left, and the wall your taking cover on is quickly being ambushed by the opposing team,.....thats what gaming is all about. Not COD4 where all you do is run around like a chicken with its head cut off and throw grenades everywhere......LAME!!!
