EA to refund Australian Medal of Honor Heroes 2 for lack of online play
If you purchased an Australian copy of Medal of Honor Heroes 2 for Wii, you may be surprised to find the game devoid of the much-touted online multiplayer. That surprise is likely exacerbated by the mention of online multiplayer both in the game's instruction manual and the official Australian web site. (As of this writing, mentions to multiplayer on the site have been removed.)
Looking to retain some, erm, honor in the situation, publisher Electronic Arts is offering a refund. Said the company (via IGN), "We made an error in the documentation and marketing materials. We are very sorry to have caused confusion for our customers. We will provide a refund to anyone in Australia who wishes to return the game to EA because of the lack of online functionality." We couldn't find details on the support page as to how the refund will work, and EA is not giving a reason for the missing 32-player mayhem.

I expect they tried to do it, but it became so hard to do they gave-up, but the marketing blurb had already been done.

I wish that my Wii could connect to my wireless router so I could actually play games like this online on it :(
Fernando Rocker @ Feb 11th 2008 2:09PM
Maybe you need a good router... not a Dynex one.
=)
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Feb 11th 2008 2:13PM
Check your wireless channel on the router side. Make sure its not 6 or 11.
samfish @ Feb 11th 2008 2:32PM
I'm rather happy with my cheapo Dynex router, thankyouverymmuch!
Huey2k2 @ Feb 11th 2008 3:12PM
Whoever said I have a crappy cheapo router?
I would hardly consider my Linksys WRT54GL to be a crappy. Maybe Nintendo needs to fix their built in adapters in their consoles, because quite frankly I have no problems getting on Live wirelessly, but for some reason my Wii won't let me.
Psaakyrn @ Feb 12th 2008 12:38AM
PS: Linksys routers are some of the more complained-about ones. Not that it's bad, but you may want to get a non-official firmware that's actually recent and bug-free.

EA how do you fuck that up?
ThornedVenom @ Feb 11th 2008 8:59PM
Because it's EA.
Cyro @ Feb 11th 2008 2:09PM
Exactly...
McWeen @ Feb 11th 2008 2:13PM
That picture is so awesome.

This really surprises people? First off it's the wii which has terrible support for online play, second off it's EA which will run off in the other direction if any real development has to be done to get a game to work.
Adv2k1 @ Feb 11th 2008 2:42PM
quickshade are you just stupid or what?
This game uses the EA online network, not the Nintendo system. SO it has all the match making and benefits of that. The same way you play Madden 08 online is the same way you play Medal of Honor Heroes. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH Nintendo's system. In fact this game doesn't require friend codes and EA network is known to be very good.
And just in case you didn't know this game was 32 Player ONLINE. Something never achieved on Wii before. In fact its still pretty rare to have so many people in online console games. So you clearly have no clue what your talking about.
I don't understand this move by EA, wouldn't it cost about the same to include online than to refund money? Why even take it out? What were they thinking? I know Australia might make online difficult since its isolated from the rest of the world, but it can't be that hard
Admiral_Mike @ Feb 11th 2008 2:21PM
Every other version of the game has online, so they must have actually made the effort to take it out of the australian one. W.T.F.
Laggy @ Feb 12th 2008 1:18AM
Welcome to Australia!
SoulBlade @ Feb 11th 2008 2:43PM
Internationalization issue or something. I can't see why they took it out of the AU version only.
Nushio (NDF - Blue) @ Feb 11th 2008 2:54PM
Probably they decided Australia wasn't worth a few extra servers to maintain the online network EA Online requires.
Ghaleon @ Feb 11th 2008 2:54PM
Without multiplayer, it'll be like they bought ANY OTHER MEDAL OF HONOR EVER! Ohe noe! Oh wait, it's STILL the same goddamn game either way.
General Chaos 32-player online plsz
JakubK666 @ Feb 11th 2008 2:54PM
Don't worry, knowing EA they'll shut down the servers in a year anyway.
Desi_D @ Feb 11th 2008 2:59PM
"Maybe the dingo ate your baby!"
Fox318 @ Feb 11th 2008 3:04PM
EA should refund all customers who bought any Medal of Honor Heroes games.
Why on earth would anyone buy this for any system??!!
JakubK666 @ Feb 11th 2008 3:09PM
In Soviet Russia, Multiplayer won't play on YOU!
Bruce N @ Feb 11th 2008 3:13PM
Dude, now it's totally worth it for the Aussies! Buy it, play the single player, beat it, then return it for full refund!
That is of course assuming that the single player game is even worth going through in the first place, but from what I've heard, it's not bad. Hey, it's free!

I agree 100% omg. I lol'd so hard.
ThornedVenom @ Feb 11th 2008 9:01PM
A refund is a nice gesture, but I don't see why Australia can't have online multiplayer like the rest of the world. =(
