Professor Layton DLC already available
Wow, that was quick. Professor Layton and the Curious Village on the DS has only been out in North America for a day, and already downloadable content for the title is available through the DS's Wi-Fi Connection service.
Using the game's Wi-Fi service, players can download the first of many extra puzzles, pictured above, which developer Level-5 promises to deliver on a weekly basis. This same feature is included in the Japanese version of the title, which has seen consistent weekly releases of new puzzle content since its release nearly one year ago. All told, that's a lot of extra puzzle bang for your buck.

Patapon says "Hello competition, let us march on yo face."
sicsided @ Feb 11th 2008 5:11PM
Haven't played this game yet, but I have played Patapon. These two sound like two good competitors, can't wait to pick it up on the DS, that is after I pick up Patapon.
Fernando Rocker @ Feb 11th 2008 5:19PM
"Ok competition... you can march... if you little guys can solve this puzzles..."

FidliousWong @ Feb 11th 2008 5:28PM

So what's the big deal about this game? Is it just a bunch of brain teasers?

When is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates coming out?
And I wonder if Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword is going to be as good as it claims.
SID SPACE @ Feb 11th 2008 5:01PM
Awesome. Best Buy has a sale this weekend, so I'll definitely be picking this up - and probably Zack and Wiki too.
FidliousWong @ Feb 11th 2008 5:07PM
Best Buy.. Sale... this weekend you say?
vidGuy @ Feb 11th 2008 5:20PM
Do speak up, CAG has yet to hear about Best Buy's upcoming weekend.
SID SPACE @ Feb 11th 2008 6:23PM
Well ... it's 10% off on up to 3 videogames, DVDs, etc IF you have reward zone. Reward zone is free though, so you might as well.
Mr Khan @ Feb 11th 2008 5:13PM
Level-5, the same people who did Jeanne d'Arc?
Hmm, looks promising.
Noshino @ Feb 11th 2008 5:31PM
Jeanne D'Arc
Rogue Galaxy
Dark Cloud
Dragon Quest VIII
...and are now working on White Knight Chronicles (PS3), Inazuma Eleven (Soccer RPG game...for DS), and the next chapter of Professor Layton...
creid @ Feb 11th 2008 5:19PM
Bought it. Love it.
waynski1457 @ Feb 11th 2008 5:37PM
wow, maybe you should have put it as the biggest release this week. thats pretty awesome!
Martez @ Feb 11th 2008 5:42PM
I heard this game was pretty simplistic. And Jeanne D'Arc was total crap.
*raises shield*
SabreCat @ Feb 11th 2008 7:17PM
Martez: Did you mean "I heard... Jeanne D'Arc was total crap"? If so, I'd be curious where you heard that--probably an outlier, as the game's Metacritic rating is a respectable 87.
Or did you mean you played it, and felt it was total crap? If so, I'd like to hear why; I'm on the third chapter, myself, and finding it pretty fun. Not all-time #1 in the genre, but enjoyable enough to be worth playing through.
...Or maybe you're just trolling, in which case never mind, I'd rather not hear anything more you have to say. :P
Martez @ Feb 12th 2008 11:10AM
I wasn't trolling. I played it and did not like it. I thought the concept was great, but I felt like it shouldn't have that Dark Cloud-ish cartoony look, considering. I also didn't like the dialogue, and the battle system was shallow and boring... I just didn't like it at all. *shrug*
I also hated Rogue Galaxy. I guess I just don't like this developer in general. But, I have not played Professor Layton.
Geist @ Feb 12th 2008 2:52PM
Oh Martez. I do not respect your opinion anymore. I'm not saying it's wrong, but you would've elicited the same reaction if you told me you don't like vanilla ice cream.
You do like vanilla ice cream, right?
Cause if you don't...I will find you. Mwahaha.
Martez @ Feb 12th 2008 3:24PM
Oh yeah, vanilla is great. Good stuff.
JakubK666 @ Feb 11th 2008 5:43PM
I gave up on handheld gaming ever since I've realized that for the same price I can get a 360 game that will last me longer than 3 hours.
Also to me it seems like Sony and Big-N are too busy looking after Wii/PS3 to give a shit about their handhelds
creid @ Feb 11th 2008 5:54PM
I didn't realize the entire 360 library launched at $29.99-$34.99. And I'm not sure where you got 3 hours from, except maybe exaggeration-land.
Naota @ Feb 11th 2008 6:01PM
a load of malarky i say!
Markez @ Feb 11th 2008 7:11PM
Yep, confirmed moron leading this thread. What the hell are you even talking about? Was your last handheld the deluxe size gamegear or something?
Cesaria @ Feb 11th 2008 7:27PM
I've got more titles than on my DS than any other system, and get more play than my consoles. You must be missing the dozens of great games for the handheld. And yes, most of them last much longer than 3 hours.

Okaaay... I have no idea how your US Prices are going so my comment might be a little over the top, but in UK second-hand Mario Kart(reminder- 3 year old game) costs £24.That's more expensive than Halo 3(£22).
If you want some more examples:
-Phoenix Wright series £20-£22
-Super Mario 64 - £26
-Any DECENT game - £20>
-Any SHIT games that DS is full of- £10>
Call me an idiot but IMO if brand new DS games cost £30-£40, I'd rather buy a brand new console/PC game.In future do some research before insulting me.
PS: @Markez Being anonymous isn't an excuse to say stuff that ,in real world, would get you a punch in a face.
SO SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH ASSHOLE!~ How does that feel?
Geist @ Feb 12th 2008 2:54PM
Wow Jakub. You honestly haven't a shit's idea of what you're talking about, do you?
JakubK666 @ Feb 12th 2008 4:35PM
hmmm...kinda.
crellion @ Feb 11th 2008 5:46PM
Kind of curious - how does DLC work with DS carts? Are they physically stored in the flash ROM of the cart once downloaded?
el serpiente @ Feb 11th 2008 6:15PM
Zzzzzzzzzzzz.....
Co @ Feb 11th 2008 8:12PM
Why can't Nintendo incorporate more of the DS' features into Wii? Namely the voice chat headset and DLC, for starters.
ThornedVenom @ Feb 11th 2008 9:15PM
When the Wii was out, I think people started complaining about Nintendo focusing on bringing more channels to the console than actually developing games.
Whilst I understand the importance of voice chatting and DLC, those are still considered as extra features. Would you rather have Nintendo be more focused on games or features?
ThornedVenom @ Feb 11th 2008 9:15PM
I'm just really surprised that DS games have DLC.
Geist @ Feb 12th 2008 2:55PM
I'm just surprised Nintendo hasn't done it yet. They're usually leading the charge on things like this.
Chris @ Feb 11th 2008 11:11PM
Is anyone having problems downloading the weekly puzzle? I have tried several times and it craps out halfway through the download. Just wondering if the servers are getting hammered and that is the problem. Other DS online games work fine so I know it isn't my hardware.
Oxybeles @ Feb 11th 2008 11:53PM
I also am having the same problem, the download does not complete. :(
