I have to agree with pkpk523, Lair was a mediocre game. I was able to get a handle on the control after I had played it near to completion.

The game felt more like a reskined Rogue Sqd. game then a new IP.

meh, I'm more down about it being quite bluntly a casual game, I know it's going to be impressive for Wii, however, on par with PS3, doubtful.

The Wii is actually starting to become a powerhouse with a little bit of development? Factor 5 promising spectacular results, and the new Star Wars: Force Unleashed to be ported onto the Wii?

Now who would have thought that developers weren't so lazy after all?

First of all, he's comparing engines, not what each console can do, so right there everyone's up in arms for nothing.

Second of all, I respect the technical achievment of Lair and enjoyed the gameplay (I have a Lair tutorial on 1up.com in my blog if you doubt me), but really; saying the Wii's engine can do more than the PS3's engine did when Egge said the 360 couldn't do it makes that statement dubious. If you mean that you can get stop flying and walk around at a person-to person level then yes; that's something Lair didn't do, since you could walk around before you got on your dragon in some stages, you can't say that the Lair engine "couldn't" do it... Now since the said that, I'll be looking for the Wii's engine to do the following

-32x32 square mile levels

-a real-time lighting system that changes throughout the day

-Literaly thousands of enemies and hundreds of events happening at once

-hardcore and high-def textures, although the Wii couldn't actually show the difference

-three or four other things which I won't say because they are of a semantic nature, so I think those might be achievable, so we'll see at E3, I guess...

"For all intents and purposes for art assets and such, it's 64MB. Normally they push the engine and phsyics as well as gameplay to about 24. So the assumption and the watermark artists push for is the 64MB limit. And frankly, even 88MB isn't enough for todays graphics. Or did you forget how in Spiderman 3, at a certain height, the entire city loses it texture because Wii just can't handle it."

Nobody is saying Wii has a comparable amount of memory to 360 or PS3. All that was said is that it has 88MB, not 64MB. No amount of "for all intents and purposes" arguments will change that. PS3 or 360 don't have 512MB for art assets "for all intents and purposes" either... Also why even bother mentioning Spiderman 3?, its hardly the best game to judge Wii's capabilities on is it.

To me Ive always had a soft spot for nintendo(it was my first game system and mario was the first game i played at an age of 3 :D so ive been playing a while to say the least BUT!!! the wii will never come close to the ps3 and the xbox please fix me.currently i own a ps3 (NOT buying a xbox) i was thinking of getting a wii cuz its kinda fun with the controls and all,but with MGS4 and Home among other things the wii will be left sitting behind.sure the wii is a great system but once they do max it out thats it there is no going above and beyond in contrast to the ps3 i thought lair was decent (by all means not the best)but it was a rushed game EVERYONE should know that by now most if not all the games for the longest time after the ps3 launch was rushed, so it sucked but saying the nintendo can compare to a Powerhouse system like ps3 is just ignorant im not bashing nintendo im just saying thinking that wii will compare to the ps3 and xbox in another year or so is rediculous, Engine-nothing a system with the wii's specs can only go so far ...NOW Sony could release a device similar to the wiis remote and release a firmware update and there goes wii's edge the ps3 is MORE than capable of handling a post launch six-axis controller that is more than capable of beating the wii's remote .Be proud of your wii its a cool system and its kinda fun but to me PS3 comes first and foremost IMO the PS3 is finally starting prove itself so to me it would be best to wait another year or so then make a judgment on which system has what it takes ..Peace
