The game is popular...

Or that market was starved...

Or RoboHitler still fights his endless battle with shadow ninjas...

Wait, wait, wait. Smash players, hardcore? Keep in mind I'm a huge Smash fan and will be participating in the Melee tournaments and the the midnight launch at my local Gamestop, but a lot of Smash players aren't what I'd call 'hardcore'. After all, if there's a more casual fighting game than Smash Bros. I have yet to see it.

Hey Fatass,

PUH-lease explain to me how you can consider Smash Bros. a casual fighting game, let alone the most casual fighting game ever?

sorry Fatass, Smash might not be the most hardcore fighting game out there, but it is FAR from being casual...

the fact that the characters appeal to the casual crowd DOES NOT make it a casual fighting game...

copras, you also forgot to mention they essentially turn Smash Brothers off. They remove random items, typically pick a very simple level, and practically strip everything that makes Super Smash Brothers the game that it is, out.

So just because they play it at a tournament doesn't mean they respect the balance and such because otherwise, why would they practically turn the game off?

I'm sorry but you can spend three days tops learning a character in SSBM. I spent 12 months learning Jackie Bryant. SSBB will be a fun game, no doubt. But it's a shallow party game. Period.

I'll have to disagree with you, Sheppy. There is a depth of tricks to Smash Bros that take a while to master, like item-catching and other things.

Smash Bros could only be seen as shallow because of its learning curve. Yes, it took you three days to learn a character, now master that technique.

They turn everything off and pick a small uninteresting level for a reason. With items and gimmicky levels comes the ugly head of luck. Smash Bros. is insanely balanced, more so than any fighting game I've ever played (except VF). Any fighting game you play is going to have top-tier characters or cheap combos, SSBM didn't have that.

You really screwed yourself over with the "shallow party game. Period." comment, too. It obviously isn't shallow enough to stop people from playing it in tournaments worldwide, 7 years after it's release.

..not anymore... changes made to Jackie between VF4 and VF4:Evo threw me off immesely. VF5 verB is a little more towards the Jackie of VF3&4 though. But I heard the VerC went and changed attack speeds on me again... supposedly. Argh!

I think I'll dedicate myself to Voldo next....

Is there a release date for the Pal regions yet? Or should we sit and twiddle our thumbs? For those of us with thumbs.

Or should we do something else?

Ha! That's so true now that you point it out. Why hasn't Miyazaki sued Nintendo yet?

Does anyone know if supplies have run out in Japan for the game? I hope we don't run into a similar problem here in the states...

... the same kind of hate you felt for the popular kids in high school?

generally hating americans is stupid. hating certain Americans isn't. its like when yahtzee rags on america, then sells out his watered-down zero punctuation reviews to xplay. its just laughable.

don't hate us for being the most prominent, and most wealthy nation in the world ... hate us if we bomb your country.

They bought it separately, in Japan. Do you have any idea what sells on the market in Japan? Wii Sports needed to be a pack-in in the other territories to be a success (and to help the Wii sell). Not so in Japan, where they got the Wii cheaper and could buy Wii Sports if they wanted, together still cheaper than the USD$250 we pay.

To impress the significance of this based on market size (only comparing to the American market since its hard to guage exactly what constitutes the whole of the PAL market), that means it would have sold 3 million in the same duration in America

breaking a million in Japan is more of a feat. Melee was the only game that did that for GC in Japan.
