What you need to know about WoW patch 2.4: Sunwell Isle

The new WoW patch 2.4 is already up on the Public Test Realms, and we're here to help players parse all the changes coming in 2.4 as well as what's new in Sunwell Isle content. Check out the patch notes and highlights below plus a compendium of new items and other changes after the break.

PATCH NOTES:
2.4 Patch notes are up
The Sunwell Isle is now available for play. This area includes a new quest hub and 5-player and 25-player instances. Join the Shattered Sun Offensive in shutting down Kael'thas' nefarious operations. This new force is comprised by both the Aldor and Scryers and is led by the Naaru. Players will take part in claiming Sun's Reach and setting up a larger base of operation to stop Kael'thas and the Legion.

What you really want to know about the patch 2.4 notes
Yeah yeah, the full patch notes are a good read, but why read those when we can pull the good stuff out? Here's what we thought was big in patch 2.4.

Patch 2.4 files reveals tons of goodies
There are a ton of goodies out there in patch 2.4. We've compiled some of our favorite items from poking around the patch files for you, and you can check them out in our Patch 2.4 Finds gallery.

NEW LEGENDARY BOW:
Hunters, say hello to Thori'dal
The new legendary bow in the Sunwell Plateau is named Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury. According to the spells attached to it, Thori'dal requires absolutely no ammo. It apparently creates its own and it looks like the bow's DPS is jacked high enough that you'll suffer no loss from the lack of ammunition.
NEW ROCKET MOUNT:
Rocket Mount animation video
I'm sure everyone will want one of these Rocket Mounts. My guess is that it'll be even more in demand than the Spectral Tiger Mount. After all, who just can't resist going "yeehaw!" when you see this?
NEW PHOENIX PET:
New phoenix vanity pet
The new phoenix mini pet: there's just something magical about the fiery little guy that I can't resist. Similar to the elusive epic flying phoenix mount, I can't help but want one.
NEW MAPS:
New Sunwell Isle map
New maps of Sunwell Isle and the new Azeroth world map constructed from the beta files currently available for patch 2.4.

TRAILER:
Sunwell dungeon cinematic
Here's something very new in Patch 2.4: what appears to be a cinematic cut-scene for the 5-man dungeon in Sunwell Plateau.
FIRE ANIMATION:
New fire animation video
Behold: a new animation for fire! It currently seems to apply to outdoor, stand-in-one-place type fires, but we can only hope it will be applied to fire effects from spells as well. Mm, fire...
SPOILER:
Kalecgos boss fight spoiler vid
It looks like a really interesting fight, and the lore nerd in me is itching to see how this inclusion of out-game media (the Sunwell Trilogy manga) into WoW proper will continue once things like the movie hit. Will we see characters from the comic book?

What else is new?
