EA announces lots of Sim-branded casual titles
EA's Casual Entertainment division is ready to dilute expand the Sim franchise with a plethora of new titles over the next three years. The company also stated it plans to develop the "next generation" version of The Sims within three years. The MySims franchise -- after selling 3 million units for $100 million in revenue -- will receive two more titles in MySims Kingdom (Q4 '08) and MySims Party (Q1 '09).
More Sims-branded games include SimAnimals and SimCity Creator. SimAnimals is expected by March '09 and SimCity Creator is part of EA's fiscal year 2011, meaning between March 2010 and February 2011. We doubt this is even the end of Sim announcements for this year -- gotta save something for E3.

"The MySims franchise -- after selling 3 million units"
Wow. That's really unexpected.
I played the DS version and I must say...meh.

Apparently the Wii version's excellent, with user-created content and such.
I don't have a Wii to personally vouch that, but I overheard that from a friend who's normally a complete hardcore nut about PC FPS.

It's funny how sim anything will equal tons of cash these days. I mean sim copter sold like what 10 copies?

It's like Apple sticking "i" in front of everything. On that note, EA and Apple need to join forces and create iSim. No idea what it would do (except generate bazillions of dollars).

Dear God, why?

What the f@*k? Seriously EA have been whoring "The Sims" franchise for years and until now they are planning the third game? I thought the 3rd installment was about to be released next year or something.

So they might do a port of SimCopter, OHMYGAWSH.
SimFarm, SimEarth, SimAnt, SimTown, SimPark, SimSafari, SimTunes, SimLife, SimRefinery, SimHealth, SimIsle, SimGolf, SimTower, The Sims Pool, The Sims Carnival.
Comeon guys, Maxis ripping off on its Sim franchice is nothing new...

Now to be fair, SimAnt was pretty cool.

Robobagins @ Feb 13th 2008 1:36PM
Thanks to custom content, I already have several of those in my Sims 2 game.
Mark @ Feb 13th 2008 11:50AM
at least now we know how they're compensating for Spore's budget...
Justin @ Feb 13th 2008 12:24PM
Can they make an actual new Sim City game please!
buzzbean @ Feb 13th 2008 12:41PM
Sweet, bring back sim ant, that game was awesome, no seriously it was actually fun.
Maxis has done this before after the success of simcity. there was sim ant, sim farm, sim tower I even think sim earth. But with spore simming everything these seem unnecessary.
maverick_saturn_626 @ Feb 13th 2008 12:58PM
Sims 3 will have crysis graphics :)
Prepare to push your pcs to the limit to watch virtual women become lesbians ^^ lol

Awesome.

I'm starting to really like the Sims games. I find that as I'm getting older, I'm gravitating away from the hard-core games toward softer, more casual titles with a creative component.
MySims Kingdom sounds intriguing. If it's like the Wii version of MySims, but in a medieval setting, it could kick ass.
maverick_saturn_626 @ Feb 13th 2008 2:39PM
I say they bring out another Sim's online ¬_¬
Lemmiwinks @ Feb 13th 2008 2:40PM
Isn't the title "Sim City Creator" a bit redundant?
Curtis the Claw Game Master @ Feb 13th 2008 6:00PM
If this isn't breaking news than I don't know what is.
