Major Team Fortress 2 update adds Badlands tomorrow
The romantic Lotharios at Valve have a certain something special planned for you on Valentine's Day, tomorrow. No, not cake you silly goose, this is way more romantic. They want to take you on a trip, to an exotic map called "Badlands." But it won't be just you; they've invited 9 of your friends (pictured above) so you can all spend a wonderful V-Day together, in Team Fortress 2, fragging the night away.
Tomorrow's update isn't simply a new map though. They're also updating the Dustbowl, Granary, and CTF Well maps with various tweaks as well as improvements to the Source Engine and SourceTV, all in what they're saying is the "largest update" since the game's launch last Fall. It's still unknown if the updates (and new map!) will make their way to the console versions, so we've asked Valve to weigh in on it. Give them some time to get back to us, and we'll let you know what they say, deal?

James @ Feb 13th 2008 9:22PM
HAHAHAHAH, stupid people buying PC games on 360. Don't you know you can never be happy in the walled garden?
Seriously, I wasn't sure where to get Orange Box, but I decided I'd rather get a new video card and be able to play user-generated content than get the 360 version and be constantly shafted.
Tiptup300 @ Feb 13th 2008 9:30PM
I feel lonely, maybe I shoulda got the 360 version instead of the ps3 version.
oldmeme @ Feb 14th 2008 8:56AM
you sound silly, maybe you should get the PC version instead of the 360 ver.
Jerk Face @ Feb 13th 2008 7:08PM
Happy F*cking Valentine's Day!
Mr.ESC @ Feb 13th 2008 7:08PM
Actually I think is more of a consolation prize for all of us who don't have anything better to do in V-day, well at least Mac owners will get laid right? (I remind you no one said it will be with a woman)
Lol, Just kidding.
This content better makes it to the xb360, is enough we have a watered down version (The xb360 version lacks of the user content, guilds, a better intro screen with a wider selection of music yata yata yata).
I play that game everyday over COD4 and Halo 3.
James @ Feb 13th 2008 7:16PM
Well since it doesn't fall on a weekend and my girlfriends down at her uni this is probably what we will be doing tomorrow :(
Marty @ Feb 13th 2008 7:19PM
I just hope the update(s) don't spoil the drop-in-and-just-start-playing feel of the game. I'd really rather not bother with a loadout screen every time I change classes, or worse yet, every time I die.
TF2 should remain about team decisions, not weapon decisions.
Secura @ Feb 13th 2008 7:26PM
The only question is, how bad are they?
.....poor attempt at a joke.
Mr.ESC @ Feb 13th 2008 7:36PM
Sorry but I'm the only one here who can do poor attempts of comedy.
So you better start to be funny.
Mr.ESC @ Feb 13th 2008 8:16PM
I meant "being" not "to be".

Stop whining Veruca Salt! The chocolate factory doesn't open until tomorrow!
Viridium @ Feb 14th 2008 9:40AM
The Seether's Louise.
StuScotsLazyEye @ Feb 13th 2008 7:39PM
I wonder if this is the update with the planned changes to the Medic class?
Oh, and nobody cares about TF2 for Xbox 360. We've (or I've) been waiting for this game for 8 years, so piss off!
RoboJoel @ Feb 13th 2008 7:56PM
And we Xbox 360 TF2 players haven't?
Sorry, but I had been looking forward to this sequel for years. Unfortunately the Source Engine has yet to be ported to Mac OS X. Fortunately, a competent Xbox 360 version exists with a comparatively (to Halo 3, CoD4, Shadowrun) more mature, down to earth, and friendly band of merry regulars.
I hope this content comes to the 360, and PS3 versions. Will at least keep the community up and running through the next Rainbow Six.
TheMoonman @ Feb 13th 2008 8:09PM
I find this offensive.
I'm a 360 TF2 player, and I happen to play with many people who love the game.
James @ Feb 13th 2008 9:16PM
Agreed! If the console versions were comparable to the PC one then they should expect one. But it's sorta like the disabled kid who you have to be nice to.
There there, you'll get your update. Don't MS force developers to charge for DLC though? It's all lovely and free for PC :)
Korova @ Feb 13th 2008 10:24PM
TF2 on 360 has a pretty good community. And its fun!
There have been free maps and updates, but it doesnt matter, I would pay for it.
Alexxxxxxxxxxxxx @ Feb 13th 2008 8:19PM
mouse and keyboard? ick!
loof @ Feb 13th 2008 8:31PM
I was under the impression that the reason the 360 wasn't getting the updates is because the lack of storage space on the core/arcade versions.
Mr.ESC @ Feb 13th 2008 8:31PM
Hey Um is Wednesday,New Zero puntuation anyone?
Jeff @ Feb 13th 2008 9:38PM
I think the biggest update here is the addition to Dustbowl Stage 2. One of the biggest problem that existed was when half ot the defenders would go demoman and basically spam the heck out of the bottleneck.
Its a good update, not game breaking and definately improves the experience for everyone. Cept the demomen maybe.
Autopsy15 @ Feb 13th 2008 10:14PM
NO DEAL!
wickedpheonix @ Feb 14th 2008 3:57PM
Now if only Valve will actually release the update - it's 2 hours late already...
Matt @ Feb 14th 2008 5:21PM
It's out now! Rejoice!
