I would love to see a side by side comparison of where it was then vs where it is now, maybe it would help me figure out what they've been doing the last three years. If the game was that amazing back then, I can't wait for what it's going to be when it comes out.

There is a lot, you were not even seeing a "game" when Spore was unveiled in 2005. You were seeing small iterations of what Will Wright had as an idea.

There procedural texturing, animations, pollination system, etc. was not even done....a game is not all about graphics. There is a lot of stuff you did not see, that just wasn't ready nor was it "fun."

Creature all the rules and content, bringing it together to create a cohesive experience could of taken quite a long long time. Spore is probably the most revolutionary game since Doom.

They wanted to make sure the gamer had hours and hours of gameplay

Thank you Will Wright for innovating the videogame industry.

Back when the concept of the Sims was announced, he was mocked all over the place not by individuals, but by companies who had refused to publish his idea. They could not conceive the possibility of a game with no goals to win nor end to it.

Thank you for proving that games are not only "immersive movies", but that they're also virtual playsets with unlimited potential.

Don't you think that "Powers of Ten" was also the inspiration for "Katamari Damacy"?
