Interesting, I do love me some Advanced Wars, and I prefer the cartoony style to the Days of Ruin take on things so I might just have to pick this one up.

I just bought Days of Ruin this weekend so maybe I'll give this a shot down the road, but I still have a lot of work to do on the DS.

". . . an advanced campaign (which we're assuming is just a harder version of the normal campaign) . . ."

You've been through the whole campaign, so why not clear that up by trying it out?

If it's additional content and not simply a difficulty change, I'd like to know!

"Given our time with the trial version of ...."

He based it on the trial. Read all of it next time...

Yes, it's all very good that it's an Advance Wars clone, but given that my DS is scratching my turn based tact-itch with that very game at the moment, is this good enough to warrant the 800 Microsollars?

I got bitten in the ass by Band of Bugs (no pun intended), which was quite underwhelming. How does this compare to that?

It's much more deep and complex than Band of Bugs, but less so than Advance Wars. I'd say that if you're busy playing TBS games on the DS, then pass on Commanders for now. But it's well worth the MS-Bucks if you've got nothing else to play in the genre.

I didnt enjoy the trail at all. I played advance wars back on GBA and really loved it. Having played this, it felt slow and bulky. It feels alot like a dumbed down version of AW. I guess that would explain why its $10 and not full retail like AW. Ill pass.

I'm not trying to be snarky, but it seems against common sense to review a *free trial version* of a game, readily available to everyone.

What I really want to know is, is this worth $10? Anyone can play the trial; what are you offering by reviewing it here?

I want first-hand feedback on the full game's features, namely those not available in the trial game. Also, it'd be nice to know how the length and difficulty of the game hold up over the course of its 15 missions.

You make a good point, but they're still offering more than most blogs out there. It would definitely be nice if they bought the games and reviewed them but it seems everyone in Fanboy Towers is pretty busy as is.

Maybe with the addition of two new bloggers something like this would be possible though; I would like to see it happen.

I second that.

Maybe if I didn't have time to play the trial myself I would have appreciate this more.

I want to know your opinion on the full game, hopefully enlightening me to something I didn't get out of the demo.

After reading this I felt exactly how I did after playing the game ... this was pretty cool, but is the rest of the worth the purchase?

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, any games we bought would come out of our own pockets, and I don't want to buy *every* XBLA game that comes out. And of course, I don't necessarily have time to play them all to completion either.

The reason we started doing XBLA in Brief is because many people asked for more information about the games on offer after we had posted the release announcements.

I'd like to be able to do more in depth previews with full builds, but that's just not going to happen unless a developer or Microsoft wants to start hooking us up (wink, wink).

If anything, XBLA in Brief is for people who wouldn't have tried a game out otherwise, or for people who haven't already.

Still, I appreciate the feedback.

I've been looking forward to this game since i read the preview at IGN. I purchased the full game and can say it is worth £6.80 (or $10 USD) if your into this type of game.

I'm looking forward to play coop with my wife against the AI.

The demo was a lot of fun.. I think I'll pick it up. It reminded me of how much I enjoyed playing XCOM. Damn that would be the hands down best addition to XBLA if it ever came out.
