Zero Punctuation attempts building SimCity Societies
If you believe that Zero Punctuation's only reason for playing SimCity Societies was to make a totalitarian government in the vein of the Nazi regime -- well, you'd be right. This week Yahtzee takes on the fantastically average game and ends up complaining about it more than making fun of it. In the end he says that SimCity Societies isn't worth the player's time, but then anybody who actually bought SimCity Societies probably already knows that.
After the break you'll find this week's NSFW review of SimCity Societies, with special Team Fortress 2 homage to the love which dare not speak its name.

Is it just me, or is he actually slowing down? I guess it could just be the fact that I am familiar with the Zero Punctuation reviews, or is he doing it on purpose?
Sam @ Feb 14th 2008 1:22AM
wtf, like, the last 5 zero punctuation videos haven't worked at all for me, is anyone else having this problem?
MrBlank @ Feb 14th 2008 11:22AM
Adblock Plus, the Firefox plug-in, breaks the videos. You have to turn it off to watch. I've noticed that sites have stated putting ads in the video player, so the vids get blocked.
Usually, I just don't watch, but ZP is worth the spam. --Or I could just wait for a copy to show up on YouTube.
Calcipher @ Feb 14th 2008 11:52AM
Just add @@|http://*.videoegg.com/ as a filter in ABP and it will allow you to watch the videos and now disable ABP.
DangerMouse @ Feb 13th 2008 11:17PM
Wow, that was probably the most boring one i've seen yet, but i think that has more to do with the fact that he was reviewing sim city.
At least the TF2 bit at the end made sure it wasn't a total loss.
Dr. @ Feb 13th 2008 11:22PM
Quite. The TF2 short was absolutely brilliant.
GreyFox @ Feb 14th 2008 4:25AM
I have no idea why I found that last part so damn funny but I did.
Alexisonfire @ Feb 13th 2008 11:24PM
It's the moon from I wanna be the guy!
Geist @ Feb 14th 2008 1:25AM
RAGE!
Shmil @ Feb 13th 2008 11:29PM
...why is this tagged with "first person shooters?"
Geist @ Feb 14th 2008 1:04AM
It looks like someone hasn't unlocked the 'crazy-bum-with-an-unloaded-shotgun' mode yet.
Edguy @ Feb 13th 2008 11:30PM
The TF2 short is what had me cracking up for a while. Even more than the "FYI, I'm a spy" video. I lul'd all over my keyboard.
klitorisaurus @ Feb 14th 2008 2:29AM
"Love lift us up where we belong
Where the eagles cry, on a mountain high"
AHahaaa good stuff

Your slipping, Joystiq. This came out way earlier today, and I still don't see mention of Mass Effect coming to the PC, which has been news for days now.

There seems to be alot of hate against this video. I personally thought it's one of the best I've seen.
Zac @ Feb 14th 2008 12:02AM
Stop linking/embedding these videos. He is not funny, this is not news. If I want to watch these videos, i'll go to the Escapist. Every week I get to watch Joystiq, GameLife, and Kotaku link/embed this hack's work when they could be posting something else.
Newsflash: I read this blog to read YOU, not watch HIM.
jorojoserojas @ Feb 14th 2008 12:07AM
Well, I actually LOVE seeing this guy's stuff, and I think it's great to read everyone's comments about his reviews on joystiq after I'm done watching the videos.
So, I guess between you and I, our opinions are cancelled out.
brandon_r87 @ Feb 14th 2008 12:15AM
Skip over the posts, it's not going to hurt you to scroll a bit further. I do it all the time. You just have to accept that there will be some posts that don't interest you, but might interest others.
embassy @ Feb 14th 2008 12:42AM
then dont fucking read it and move on.
i hate people who bitch about stuff they're not forced to endure.
Zac @ Feb 14th 2008 1:00AM
Pardon me for wanting to encourage Joystiq to post original content. I know I can skip the posts, and I usually do. Its just kind of annoying to skip it on 5 or 6 blogs every single week. Try to imagine if you hated it but saw it all day every day.
embassy @ Feb 14th 2008 1:03AM
it's not hard.
i do that everyday with my wife.
...
i kid i kid.
DangerMouse @ Feb 14th 2008 1:17AM
Well, the more you skip, the more time you have to do other shit.
Korova @ Feb 14th 2008 12:09AM
In the middle of that it actually sounded like he was enjoying the game, but he cleared it up with the buildings with tits thing. That would be more fun indeed.
Ranus Studios @ Feb 14th 2008 12:50AM
I think I didn't enjoy it as much because it's probably the least interesting game he's reviewed.
Geist @ Feb 14th 2008 1:21AM
Yeah, it's kinda out of left field. I mean, we've got AAA title, AAA title, huge-budget title, super-well-known title, AAA title, and...SimCity Societies? Uh.
rokerovakero @ Feb 14th 2008 1:34AM
Now I understand why everyone likes this reviews... they are pretty much short yet comedic. except this is very much a Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain "monologues" scene ripoff. It's been 5 years, how about making something different??
The same thing happened with the "bullet-time" and the "arm aisles" in Matrix and everyone trying to make it work for everything...
But the game is nothing against Simcity 4 which happened to be the worst in the series. Maybe Simcity is done?
Psaakyrn @ Feb 14th 2008 3:39AM
Or it's time for something.... bigger.
*waits for Spore ZP review*
Psaakyrn @ Feb 14th 2008 3:40AM
Addendum: I think you could make "buildings with titties" in Spore, couldn't you?
Korova @ Feb 14th 2008 6:33AM
For fun's sake lets hope so
Zegim @ Feb 14th 2008 4:48PM
I loved the AC/DC bit.
