A rather 'large' Smash Bros Brawl glitch
Given everything else in Smash Bros Brawl has been revealed on the internet, it's only fitting that a few unintentional quirks are spoiled, too. While you might argue/joke "that's not a bug, it's a feature," we're pretty sure this one is a bug. Here's your spoiler warning -- video (and explanation of the glitch) embedded after the break.
[Via NWF]
Normally, Jigglypuff's final smash has him turn into a giant puff and push people off the stage, subsequently returning to normal size. Using the collapsed bridge, someone found a way to keep him permanently enlarged. You don't have to sit through the entire video, only the first minute or so is important.

Aww. The main picture before the jump got my hopes up. I thought someone had found a way to bring back the black hole.
bend @ Mar 15th 2008 1:21PM
dude, the black hole works if you use the cracker launcher instead of the turnips on hyrule temple.
hvnlysoldr @ Feb 14th 2008 3:21AM
Doesn't she just look adorable with a top hat.
BPM VII: Crisis Core @ Feb 14th 2008 3:33AM
I agree. The Fire/Leaf Girl's hat is pretty cute on Jigglypuff.
And I wonder why the player didn't attack at all while in perma-big. Would being glitched like this be just for show? Or would it modify Jigglypuff's attack power at all?
Ben @ Feb 14th 2008 8:28AM
The player didn't attack because they were just showing how it's done, they weren't playing a match or anything. They're just in training mode. It does modify her attack, but not by a huge amount... not one of the best FS's in my opinion (unless you're on a really small stage, then it's great).

'ADVANCED TECHNIQUES' CONFIRMED FOR BRAWL
Cheezeman3000 @ Feb 14th 2008 3:31AM
Gotta love that dark world remix music. Freakin' sweet.
jimmygotsmack @ Feb 14th 2008 3:39AM
The only problem with the glitch is that you have to use Jigglypuff :p.
With this Jigglypuff is now actually useful!!!
ThornedVenom @ Feb 14th 2008 4:26AM
Do not tempt the wrath of thy Jigglypuff.
Meteor Smash experts are scary as fuck.
rockintom @ Feb 14th 2008 5:39AM
...Seriously? Do you even *play* smash brothers?
samfish @ Feb 14th 2008 9:01AM
Jiggypuff is awesome. You must be insane or something.
Dahk @ Feb 14th 2008 9:08AM
Lmao, PLEASE youtube some jigglypuff videos or something, before you anger jiggly players more.
3cubed minus 3squared plus1 @ Feb 14th 2008 1:25PM
After Roy, Jiggly was my best player.
what a fool!
jimmygotsmack @ Feb 14th 2008 2:28PM
Well, no one will ever read this post because its a day later, o well.
The only useful move jiggly-puff had was her backward's A attack, which you could do over and over again due to her extra jumps. Her sleep attack was too unreliable to ever depend on in an actual tournament. You could grap her, or just hit her with her roll out. Her sing special was useless, since it was more then possible you could wake up from it as soon as you went to sleep. Her pound attack was nice, and could be exploited to stay in the air for all eternity, but that was considered an exploit by many.
Jiggly puff wasn't horrible like pichu was, but she was more of a fun character then a useful character. The problem with her is that anyone that could use her, had someone else they could use better.
Youtube videos of any character would hold the same results.
Grimmus @ Feb 14th 2008 3:40AM
I definitely dig the first track.
waynski1457 @ Feb 14th 2008 4:05AM
now i have to go try that next time i play it...
Xlnt @ Feb 14th 2008 4:27AM
Giga-Jigglypuff + Giant Melee Mode + nothing but Super Mushrooms = ???
Geist @ Feb 14th 2008 8:09AM
= EPIC WIN.
deaftly @ Feb 14th 2008 11:09AM
Profit!
The Doctor @ Feb 14th 2008 9:09PM
Geist has the correct answer.
ThornedVenom @ Feb 14th 2008 4:28AM
How the heck did they let that get through? Accidentally Final Smashing over an open hole could be a very common occurrence.
It's a pretty neat bug, in my opinion, but they should perhaps iron it out with an update, for balance sake.
Psaakyrn @ Feb 14th 2008 4:38AM
I don't think it's JUST final-smashing over an open hole. There's too many coincidental moves (+ menu swap) happening here.
G-Anderton @ Feb 14th 2008 4:54AM
It's not just any hole in the level. If you watch closely as jiggly jumps above the hole before it transforms, a twilight princess style portal starts warping in the missing floor.
So this glitch would most likely only work in this level.
If you watch the original video of this glitch you see jiggly waiting around for a minute or more waiting for the floor to start warping in. search "gigalypuff" in youtube's search to see some more videos.
Shape @ Feb 14th 2008 7:12AM
And thanks to the Wii's lack of game patching, this will never be fixed.
Geist @ Feb 14th 2008 8:12AM
It's a bug, but it's a rare one, and not game-breaking in the slightest, which is really more than can be said for many other systems and their bugs.
As far as I can tell, the Wii doesn't actually _need_ a game patching service. But then, I've only played about a dozen and a pair games, so ehh.
Aero @ Feb 14th 2008 8:17AM
What about Super Paper Mario and Guitar Hero 3? It's stupid that in this day and age if there's a software problem with a disc you need to send it back and get a new one.
samfish @ Feb 14th 2008 9:03AM
I don't think a patch could fix the GH3 issue, though...
Shape @ Feb 14th 2008 11:40AM
Who's to say that more bugs won't be found?
Not having a game patching facility in this day and age is inexcusable.
hvnlysoldr @ Feb 14th 2008 1:26PM
Chicken and the egg. By having the ability to easily patch games, developers or more likely publishers and PR won't fuss over bugs and glitches to hit the target date. Thus increasing the amount of bugs and glitches needing patches. Why fix it when you can just patch it later? Of course not all developers are like that, but you can bet your bottom dollar some companies are guilty.
Shape @ Feb 14th 2008 1:41PM
You will NEVER eliminate every bug from a game these days. To think that you can is ridiculous. Games are simply too complex to find every bug during testing.
As an example, multiplayer games will have bugs that are only apparent when large numbers of people are playing them online.
This is no chicken and egg issue. Patching is a requirement for software this large.
T @ Feb 14th 2008 4:19PM
There are so many dependencies to make this bug work that anybody trying to set it up will be recognized as doing so by any other player and immediately targeted.
Aka: Fail.
Suichimo @ Feb 14th 2008 4:53PM
@T
I'd actually go ahead and let the person do the glitch. Makes it easier for me to kill. The only difference is that Jiggs is bigger, literally thats all not even weight increases. So I have this big, fairly easy to kill with the right attacks who is basically going "Hit me! Hit me!" with a giant target painted onto it.
hvnlysoldr @ Feb 14th 2008 5:35PM
Most things that require patches they were already aware of during testing. Why else before even shipping the game tell people a patch is on the way. And the GHIII Wii does have stereo just not Surround.
FoxHoundADAM @ Feb 14th 2008 9:21AM
Wow maybe gigglypuff might be worth playing as like this.
Square @ Feb 14th 2008 9:32AM
Wow. This is the game you guys all freak out about? Maybe you have to play it?
joeyg @ Feb 14th 2008 11:02AM
i don't get it either.
FOXHOUND @ Feb 14th 2008 9:37AM
I hope this doesn't spark another delay... x_x; This game was going to be a b'day gift to myself. LoL
Suichimo @ Feb 14th 2008 9:51AM
This glitch effects nothing but Jiggs' size. Everything else is the exact same as when she is normal sized Jigglypuff. So pretty much, by performing this you just make the already light and easily killable Jiggs even easier to kill.
And yeah. It can only be used on this stage because of the missing piece of the Bridge of Eldin being teleported back into place.
@Magetto
Advanced techs aren't glitches. Some of them may have been exploitations of the physics engine but none of them were glitches. If you want to see some actual glitches that have been in the series google something like "Ice climbers freeze glitch" or "Mewtwo soulstunner". Those are glitches, and in fact banned in tournament play.
@jimmygotsmack
I can't wait to see the first time you get trapped in a wall of pain or get hit by her rest. Jiggs owns.
Gehodra @ Feb 14th 2008 10:45AM
Please don't get into a wavedashing debate here. Keep your definition of "glitch" to yourself. There is no need to start a flame debate like those at at gfaqs.
ShortFuse @ Feb 14th 2008 11:11AM
You know, under the same "exploit of engine" mentality, hit stunning somebody and following with another attack was in Street Fighter II. It was later named a "combo". Maybe you've heard of it before.
Thankfully they removed that nasty glitches from all the subsequent games. Oh, wait...
Suichimo @ Feb 14th 2008 12:26PM
@Gehodra
Not trying to start one. Its just the person I directed that message seemed to believe all advanced techs were glitches. Its sad when you see things like SHFFLing labeled as a glitch. However, I don't think anyone will disagree that the examples I posted are in fact glitches.
@Shortfuse
I find it hard to tell if you're disagreeing with me or agreeing in a very sarcastic way. In any case the only advanced tech that even could be considered exploition is wavedashing in Melee. The rest were just combinations of different things you could already do, unless that constitutes a glitch nowadays.
ShortFuse @ Feb 14th 2008 11:07AM
This was posted on Brawl Central 3 days ago, this was before Chaos Kid made the video:
"Chaos Kid has discovered a glitch during his stream to make Jigglypuff stay enormous permanently, unless she is KO'd. So far this has been tested on The Bridge of Eldin, but may work on other stages with reappearing structures, such as Spear Pillar.
There is no advantage to performing this, and it's just for show. Jigglypuff does not gain any extra power, knockback resistance, or anything while staying in her gigantic form. To do this on Bridge of Eldin, get a Final Smash with Jigglypuff and wait for the bridge to get blown up. When you see the Twilight warp appear, float into the place that the bridge is going to reappear and perform the Final Smash. Jigglypuff will grow huge as the bridge is formed again, and part of her body will be in it. After the Final Smash is over, Jiggly will act as if she was hit and will then be lying on top of the bridge. After this she is free to move around, attack, taunt or do anything she pleases.
If you have Brawl, try testing it with other characters such as Bowser, or on different stages."
343 Guilty Fart @ Feb 14th 2008 1:01PM
I want to playz as teh Shyguy!!
Alex @ Feb 14th 2008 3:12PM
That's deffinitly a glitch, not a feature, but it's not that much different then the Yoshi Glitch from Meele.
Dictatorship @ Feb 14th 2008 3:28PM
This glitch is the future of most hardcore SSBB gaming. Screw Fox only, no items, Final Destination. Jigglypuff, Smash Ball and Bridge of Eldin is the future now.
The Doctor @ Feb 14th 2008 9:11PM
All in all, this appears to be a very rare occurance that has little positive effect on the jiggylpuff character, and potentially great negative effect if they try to abuse it (ie normally the FS is good for keeping people of the stage, but running around like this just makes jigglypuff a big target.)
Joey @ Mar 17th 2008 5:59AM
you guys who made this are so dumb, why haven't you experimented with this? did you know that if you grab wario's motor cycle with gigalypuff it grows enormous as well, or samus's suit parts, or the superscope, wich also makes the balls of energy it shoots out huge, or peach's turnips, or link's bombs, which also makes a huge explosion?????? bet you didn't cause you're all retarded
