And that seals the deal.... guitar hero has officially "jumped the shark". GHIII focused too much on metal in the latter parts of the game for my particular tastes and left me a bit disappointed. Obviously looking at their sales they're making cash hand over fist, but at this point I'm worried that they'll just pump out overpriced garbage. Steven Tyler is ugly enough in real life. I don't need to pay $60 to watch a virtual representation of him. Brett Michaels was bad enough, I was worried I'd get some kind of STD just from holding the guitar.

Metal????
Lie Metal maybe.. or baby metal. I prefer "baby metal", it's more insulting than lie metal, and not as mean as 'tard metal (Though, not nearly as appropriate.). Now, if it had some REAL metal, you know, something with real and good melody, it'd be different.

That's what happens when you leave a music game to people who probably think "WOW BOY EXPLOSIONS HEE HEHEHE SKATEBOARDS! THIS IS SO COOL! SLASH!"

If you ask me, GH immediately jumped the shark when Slash was on the god damned cover.

yeah, slash on the cover continues to piss me off. they pretty much just whored out the series. they took a great franchise and sucked the life out of it in every way.

Guitar Hero 3 was a big dissapointment for me. Rock Band changed it up and made a great game, with a great group multiplayer career mode, however the lack of a good single player career mode.

Hopefully the GH guys know that a good career mode is what they need to stay fresh and innovative, unlike having stupid boss battles.

Lack of a good singleplayer career mode?
I guess I'm crazy because I thoroughly enjoyed the singleplayer drum campaign.

Anyways Guitar Hero went from a great and creative franchise to a soulless corporate money maker when Harmonix left, GH3 was extremely subpar and thats only the beginning. Its only a matter of time before Activision incorporates DDR dance pads and boss fights against Bam Mergera.

I don't get what the hell people's problem is here really. This isn't replacing Guitar Hero 4, and Activision has said that there will be a regular GH4 with mixed tracks. This is a supplementary, ADDITIONAL game. If you don't want it, just pretend it doesn't exist and then it's the same thing as if it actually didn't exist.

It would have been nice to see this released as a DLC pack, but it seems rather infeasible to include a download with ~60 tracks in it given that most of us are using meager 20gb hard drives.

Cool to see Dream On for free for GH3 too. GH3 is lacking in DLC frequency, but at least when they do it they do it right (free or with video previews if we're expected to pay).

No thanks. I'll gladly take the free track, and maybe rent the new game, but that's it.

What's with the complaining? This isn't instead of Guitar Hero 4. It's just a little side project like the 80s edition was. If you don't like it don't buy it. Guitar Hero 4 will still come out later. Aerosmith is a logical choice for a project like this because they have over 30 years worth of songs and fans They are one of the few bands that have enough material to fill multiple games. If you're not an Aerosmith fan, just look at it as opening the door for your favorite band to get their own game.

Thank you Edicius

On the verge of turning 30, and still loving video games like a lil child, Im happy to hear that they are gunna do an Aerosmith version of GHIII.. I didnt buy GHIII yet so its not like I will be payin for a game I have already. I did purchase GHII and rented RockBand.. But being I grew up when Aerosmith and G'N'R were the greatest rockers, I've always loved Aerosmith.. Yeah Steven Tylers a lil on the freaky side (reminds me of a chick with a big mouth) but they are the music of my Gen. so Im gunna purchase this for sure.. hell, I use AeroTJ as my email and other onscreen avatars... been like that since AOL first came out..

I've said it before but harmonix was apparently the soul of guitar hero. Now that they're gone i expect the franchise to get steadily worse. I hated guitar hero 3, the charts didn't feel right and the boss battles were just stupid. Rock band owns guitar hero.

Bleh, I'll get the song but not the new game. The only reason why Rock the 80s was acceptable was because last Generation of consoles didn't have this intergrated ever present online system. Back then that was the only way to disribute new/extra content. Now we have this little thing called DLC, just release them in packs or not at all unless its a GH4 IMO. Still I always had a love hate relationship, on the higher diffculties I felt they just slapped notes in and didn't test to see how possible they were. Rockband has given me a more fun expirence and reminds a bit more of GH2. Personaly my view is if Activision keeps this up we're gonna be talking about GH in the past tense soon

although this rocks, this was not the first game to be based around aerosmith music, and im not talking about revolution X. "quest for glory" was for PC around 1995, using a virtual pick to pick the rhythm for the guitar tracks, featuring all aerosmith music, and 2 steppenwolfe songs.

I know everyone here is probably 14 and under, but yes there was a time when Aerosmith was legitametly good. "Don't Wanna Close My Eyes" and doing things like performaning with Britany Spears at the grammys have hurt their legacy, but as long as the game takes most of the songs from their earlier years, this should be good. "Big Ten Inch Record" FTW!

Am I the only person genuinely freaked out by that picture? I mean wtf. If that poped up out of the ground one night (as i suspect it would) and started stumbling in my direction I would run the hell away. ah... man... its just so horrible. I can't describe how awful that picture really is. Why... so awful
