New Folding@Home update: nothing to write home about

A minor update for Folding@home dropped in this morning. In fact, the picture above pretty much sums up everything you'll need to know about the update. "Operations for handling network errors related to the uploading and downloading of work units have been improved." Exhilarating! Riveting, even.

Though the update's description is vague, it does bring a bit of the "curiosity cat" out of us. Have you had many problems with downloading/uploading work units? Does this update relieve those network connection woes that have been keeping you up at night?

I had alot of times when it was sat there retrying...

everyonce in a while F@H will flip out on me while trying to up/download work units. it says, "retrying in ____". maybe this update will help

Yeah, I got the "error: retrying in x-amount of seconds" lot's of times when downloading work units. Every time it happened, I had to quit out and then enter back in. I hope this does away with that.

This update sure is something to phone about, at least for the Stanford guys. They had times were 80% of the data produced by PS3 users was useless. They had numerous blog entries about their issues with the PS3 client and were eagerly waiting for an update.

I had problems all last week and lost several days of folding. No big deal really, but I might as well have left the PS3 turned off between the 4th and the 8th of Feb.

My friend who passed me in unit count tells me it's because of the amount of 'Rock Band' I'm playing, but I insist it was this upload bug.

Yeah I have issues all the time with it not uploading. Not that many over the last few weeks though.

Same as the above. Lots of retries, but eventually it gets them all squared away. Not a huge issue.

Uhh thought I'd pointlessly say the same thing as everyone else. Lotsa retries on trying to download the work unit.

now and then it'll fail to upload it's work unit and/or fail to download a work unit. not that common, perhaps once every 2-3 units. thankfully it automatically re-tries after 30 seconds or so.
a useful update but not a huge one

I never had any trouble uploading, but the stats showing how many worked units stopped updating, though it would be correct on my folding certificate.

It's not that "minor" when it involves units that take forever to download or may not upload at all. You already got custom soundtracks for F@H. Do you really need anything else? The blog entry was written as if you were expecting the next update to... I don't know.. do something crazy like run in the background while you play video games or something.

Wow, you know its a REALLY slow news day when you write a post, including screenshot about an update to a program that doesn't really do much for the actual user. Also the update tells you exactly what it does. Lol sorry just found that amusing

i had pretty much the same problems. i've been trying to break into the top 100 on our team, so this should keep me headed in right direction.oh and thanks for the shoutout. i've always thought this was the best place for ps3 news and its good you guys show love to the readers. keep up the great work.

My PS3 show's no record of the 3 work units I have completed, as when it hits 100% and uploads it's data it just freezes up and hangs there for hours not doing anything. I eventually just have to turn it off losing any record of that unit completing. Which I reakon sucks!
