Contrary to what has previously been stated, the Nintendo Wii port of Okami will have some extra frills. A listing on Capcom's website reveals that Clover Studio's masterpiece will now support widescreen (16:9) and 480p progressive scan support. That should give you more than enough reason to finally splurge on some Wii component cables.
Developer Ready at Dawn, who is responsible for the port, had previously said the game would be an "exact port" with only Wii remote support added during brush stroke moments. While this isn't new content, the technical improvement is a welcome addition to this visually stunning title. Okam-Wii (not an official title) is due out March 25.

Well, it was pretty ridiculous from the start to believe that Capcom was NOT planning on taking any advantage of the Wii's more powerful hardware.
I would have AT LEAST expected widescreen support and 480p.

Exactly right. Capcom has been excellent about enhancement of its Wii version of Resident Evil. They saw how tweaking the game to the unique nature of the Wii platform can pay off big time in the form of review scores and sales.
Hopefully they are applying the same reasoning to other ports as well.

Sure, why not. But the game is already gorgeous...
This game is made for the Wiimote. Capcom acknowledges that.

360 games can barely push 720p and 30fps.. there's only two or three game that are actually in 1080p (Virtual Tennis is one of them).

It wouldn't look much better at all, actually. Cell shading has basically peaked.
Just look at the DBZ Burst Limit game and compare that to the DBZ:BT games, for example. There are some better lighting effects and it looks a bit smoother due to the higher resolutions, but there's otherwise no difference.

1080p support this generation is like progressive scan last generation. It's nice, some games support it, but hardly anybody uses it. 720p is just fine, and progressive scan aint hurtin my eyes either.

Yeah, you're stight Skittles. Those 360 games look like complete and total shit when compared to the awesome power of the Wii! I mean, I was playing CoD4 the other day and commented on how much of a piece of muddy, jaggy garbage it looked like.
Oh wait, that was No More Heroes.

This is somewhat true. But if you have a 1080p capable tv that is bigger than 46", it does matter. In a couple of years, hopefully it will become the norm.

Hah... that might be true if you only had the Cube or even a PS2 last generation. 480p was standard on all but a mere handful of Xbox games, and even those could be patched for 480p.
"360 games can barely push 720p and 30fps.. there's only two or three game that are actually in 1080p (Virtual Tennis is one of them)."
The major flaw in that reasoning though is that those games are generally far more graphically advanced (technically, not artistically) than Okami. The 360 could likely push what is essentially a last gen game at 1080p.

Hah, Xbox 360 port? Obviously it should be a PS3 port if anything. Xbox 360 pretty much can't do native 1080p anyway.

You really don't have to splurge on Wii component cables Monoprice.com has them at a decent price: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10830&cs_id=1083001&p_id=3490&seq=1&format=2

I must add that shipping was cheap and fast and they ship from the USA unlike all those shipping from Asia.
Also, they are GOLD connectors, not cheap copper/brass ones. They are Monster Cables quality.

Man, I really need to go back and play the PS2 version.. I'm, I don't know, 12 hours in? It really was quite good.
Maybe I'll load it up on HDLoader or something, are there issues that anyone knows about?

Hey ready at dawn! Nice to meet you!
Please edit down Okami to get rid of some of the filler and make it better paced. It'll turn it from a great game into a classic. I promise.
That is all.

I'm so glad I bought this on PS2 when I did. The whole time while I was playing it, I was thinking to myself "Just imagine this game in 480p." I may have to get this for Wii even though I own it just because the game is that awesome. Now I get to see Issun jump out of Sakura's voluptuous cleavage in high-def. :D

Seriously for those who have not played Okami, it is a great game. However it is a very long game that gets a bit drawn out towards the end. It really is almost two games in one. A casual title this one is not.

Yeah, it's a pretty big game. I got about (what I think is) 3/4 of the way through when it first came out and had to stop for other "priorities". I don't want to say that I got "bored" because I really enjoyed it, but something just didn't draw me back to it.
I'm definitely getting the Wii version for the controls and the experience was good enough that I'm at least debating on wether or not to finish the PS2 version first, or just waiting for the Wii version.

My favorite thing about Okami was it's length. I thought the first several hours were REALLY boring, admittedly, but it quickly picked up.
But there were several times where I beat a boss and thought, "Well, I guess I beat it!" and then BAM! even more game to play.
I haven't felt like that since the first time I beat the boss in A Link to the Past and he warps you to the dark world and you say, "Holy crap there's more!"
Okami still doesn't compare to THAT moment for me (which is one of the greatest moments in my gaming experience), but it's the closest a game has come since.

well, if you have a HDTV you owe it to yourself to have the component cables for the Wii...however, I have the PS2 version which runs perfectly on my fully bc 60gig PS3, so I have no need to re-purchase this title (although it's tempting just to support the developer to continue creating awesome ORIGINAL games)...

I find it funny how you Nintendo fans keep implying that the touch screen and Wiimote are the only way to game. Just like the DS, I heard several times that the touch screen was better for web browsing; FAILED. Then the Wii it would be the best for FPS, but when MoH came out and Trauma Centre too; FAILED! It was soo irritating trying to get used to the completely off aim of the Wiimote.
But I do admit that the Wiimote should do good at this game. I had Okami and beat it for PS2, and I'm pretty sure the Wiimote should not fail since you do not need precise aiming to paint on pieces of the game.
