So, Toshiba. How's that decision to walk away from the negotiating table when the Blu-ray consortium was offering to unify the formats working out for ya?

If I were a stockholder in Toshiba, I would demand that heads roll for that colossal blunder.

Even if they make a 360 with an integrated Blu-ray player, I'd still rather use a PS3 to watch movies on because I don't have to worry about it RRoD on me in the middle of a movie.

Gotta go back to playing Uncharted. I like it even better than Bioshock.

If you had stopped after the first paragraph I wouldn't be pressing "-" so hard.

The big difference between the format wars of the 80's and now is that Sony use every dirty trick in the book to get the Blu Ray format to win. I don't think that the people decided a winner. It was business deals and pushing store to display the format that decided the winner. And that part suck.

I just feel sorry for anyone who spent money on HD-DVD, I never touched that attachment, lol, and thank god, I'd kill someone if my £100 just went down the drain the moment Toshiba decides out.

Congrats to Sony. They finally won one. I love technology and use all formats except UMB. Personally, I love On Demand media from my cable tv service and high speed internet use of Netflix and Amazon. It's so much more convenient if you have a blazing internet connection and it's in High Def.
For those of you who have the HD DVD add on, It still upscales regular DVDs beautifully. In fact, I use more than my PS3 player.
I know that HD media is still only a very small share of the market. Anyone know the ratio of standard DVD to HD (Blu-ray & HD DVD)?

I bought the addon 6 months back when I bought an HDTV. I'm not much of a movie watcher, but I figured this would be a cool tech demo and show off the awesomeness of HD. And it did, movies look much, much better. However, I still find myself not buying movies (mostly because of cost, and lack of interest), and no amount of resolution will change that I guess. I just can't justify $35 for 2 hours of entertainment. Frankly, for $50 you can get 3+ hours of COD4 Singleplayer and be way more entertained. (joke)
