Square Enix has finally nailed down a firm US release date for its upcoming, dare we say original action-RPG for the DS, The World Ends With You. While Nintendo listed the game among its spring releases last month, the calender jockeys at Final Fantasy proper have announced that the game will make it to North American retail outlets on April 22.
Developed at the hands of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories developer Jupiter, the game has certainly been on the minds of those of us partial to Nintendo's touchable handheld, as as well as those with a thing for big feet and Japanese culture. The World Ends With You is set within Tokyo's "trendiest youth culture center," Shibuya, and takes "major influences" from the area's cultural bearings, from food and music to fashion and design. It all sounds great, but honestly you had us at original.

Most DS RPGs are rubbish, which sucks really. But the FF's... Children of Mana, and M&L:PIT are all pretty good.

i loved Partners In Time. i thought Superstar Saga was better but Partners In Time was still a great game. the only complaints i really had where that it barely used the touch screen at all and there is almost no replay value. you should be able to find it on the cheap now so replay value isnt that big a deal if the game is around $10-$15. i definitely recommend it.

My only bitch about Partners in Time is that the end boss isn't so much difficult... just an excessively annoyingly long battle. First time attempting it, I had no clue what to do and it was over a hour. And because I was ill equipped, eventually fell. Second time, it was a 45 minute battle (but I won... horray). To me, that's too excessive for a handheld game. Especially since you cannot pause and quicksave mid battle.

Boy, when you said "original" I was thinking that it *wouldn't* be some gay anime-looking game!
Whew. Glad we cleared that up...

They really need to enforce the "13 years and up" age restriction on internet accounts (or whatever that silly law entails), it would probably clean up on sludge like this.

Shame on me as a DS gamer for not following up this game.
I see some big names here, but what's the game about?

I hadn't even heard about this game until now. It's nice to see 'Squenix' doing something that isn't Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior. And don't get me wrong, I love Final Fantasy games and the DW series, but I like original stuff too.
Import title for sure if they don't localize it.

Umm, is it really a bug? I'm in the dark concerning this matter. Either way, Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And PSA- April 22nd is also Earth Day so do the planet a favor and recycle something and pick up trash. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.

It's a high fantasy RPG that starts, apparently, with the end of the world. But it's basically based in current day Japan.

This looks kinda kool. I wanted I to be for console so it could be more like Kingdom Hearts (II) as far as gameplay though. I guess it'll be akin to that DS one.
