I don't know if this has already been said, but the way to check on real shortages would be the same way to check on the wii shortages. Look on Ebay. What's the price of a NWT 360 going for? I'll bet it's not more than you could get in a store. Also, let's look on Amazon. BRB....
Ebay..Arcade bundle - is going for around $350 - Core has many going for under $200.
Ebay...Elite looks to be selling b/n $450 and $500
Amazon and Google Shopping/Froogle appear to be sold out of the Elite, except re-sellers command a small premium, but it's hard to say if they're selling any since Ebay seems to make it easy to buy w.o much of a premium. The core /arcade and pro seem to be available relatively easy at Froogle and Amazon retailers for MSRP. Compared to the PS3 - don't really know or care - comared to the WII I don't think MS can really call it a demand shortage - When Ebay tacks on $100 premiums then maybe there will be a shortage - I just don't see it. But it does appear it is not always Really Really easy to find. You may have to look a little if you're not in the right place.

For the Record - I'm not a PS# fanboy or a 360 fanboy.

Haven't seen a Elite since a week after launch in the St. Louis area. As for the other models, a smash up box one at Walmart a week ago. I spotted only Arcade and Halo ones since after Christmas.

Where I live in a southern suburb of chicago, its hit or miss at Big Boxes, and smaller retailers for 360's.There's no consistent inventory except for maybe arcade editions. As an earlier poster said it is tax time. As a 60gb Ps3 owner I was a little upset when the HDMI output broke I wentback to where I bought it 7mths ago and if I want a replacement it would have to be the 40gb model with no backward compaitability due to the drop of 80gb model. Sony & Microsoft both have horror stories of refurbs being crappy so I will wait and see if sony will bring out another PS3 sku with BC and try to use my extended warranty then.

Repairs are taking forever! My son's Xbox 360 has been broken since he received it Christmas day straight out of the box! Toys R Us didn't receive any new ones in the 45 day replacement time so we had to send it back to Microsoft. They had us take the hard drive out and received it but, can't never tell us nothing about when we call except, "Call back in 3 to 5 business days". This is ridiculous and I'm sick and tired of it! This has been going on for months now! I have to drive him to friends homes to play his own games! Microsoft don't care and have yet to help my son get his Christmas present back....I'm sad for my son and anyone having to go through all the samething I'am. I'm ready to call the Daytona beach Journal! I'm mad now! I've always been a loyal Microsoft fan, but this isn't just affecting me.....its also affecting My Son! Microsoft should be soooo ashamed for everyone!
