WOW! If that's real, I don't care how new my PSP Slim is, I'm saving up for that.

...But how's there enough room for a UMD Drive?

Reading the photo (trying to tranlate) it would be UMDless...thus you'd be limited to PSN store software I'd imagine..

So then it'd only play PS1 games.

BS.

Actually Extinction it would play probably ALL PSN games/content...which includes original games, UMD Legacy titles, digital comics, and demos.

Nope, according to other sites, it would play from MS.

I love my SE phone and if there was an option to buy one with some built in PSP/PS functionality I'd consider it strongly.

I always have my phone but the full PSP can go everywhere imo and this would be a nice addition to the PS family of products.

Bad news guys. There's a higher quality image further down the page. It says "Probability of happening - 35%". This was a mockup by that site.

Err, I mean to say, it was a mockup by that magazine.

the way I see it, if this became a reality, Dark Alex would eventually bring homebrew to it

Something like that would be nothing short of SEXY, pure and simple. Having said that, it would have, what? Ten minutes of battery life, tops?

Didn't you guys already posted that same image from an English Magazine(i think it was PC Gamer). It might have been Joystiq, or alternately it was posted on GameFAQs(with it saying it was a mock image). So yeah, the image is fake.

You're absolutely right - I saw this image in Edge / PC Gamer / Stuff mag in the UK back in November / December, and they definitely said it was a mock-up and NOT an official image of any kind. You guys should be more up to speed than this. Come on!

this is ridicoulous. i don't think this will sell as well as the psp. can you imagine the cost and use-less-ness (if thats even a word) of it.really just think. its just a phone that plays games- thats it. don't you have a game that makes calls (psp slim and skype). And your willing to shell out a car payment(s) for this???? really now....

If SE was to make something like this it wouldn't be to replace the PSP...it would be another way of accessing PSN games and remote playing your PS3.

The placement of the analog nub is worse than the PSP. Do they expect us to play with the very tips of our finger nail?

The phone at the top, underneath the d-pad. It's in the very corner of the phone. Seems very uncomfortable.

I preferred the lateral sliding Experia style one, although this one at least looks like it wouldn't cost more than a PS3. That said, phones are subsidised by the contract anyway, so the price isn't really a big deal.

There are other phones that have a 2 way slide, so this is doable, it would have to be downloaded titles only though. Unless they come up with some secure way to allow you to rip ISOs to the phone.

One thing I don't see is a built in camera for video calling, which would be a strange exclusion if this image were real.

Only GSM based carriers, i.e. AT&T and T-Mobile. (Or Rogers and Fido (... which is Rogers) up here in Canada)

In any case, this is friggin' hawt, and exactly what Sony Ericsson should dish out =P.

That looks way too much like the Nokia N95. What with the dual sliding, Speaker placement and such..
im guessing this is just another photoshop for the public?

Hopefully the future PSP Phone will allow us to download our exisiting UMDs to internal memory......

Personally I'd like to see something based on the new Xperia form factor with lots of touchscreen goodness.

there will be NO PSP phone.there's brand new phone models every year and a gaming console lives for 5-10 years.phones become outdated easily.therefore,it is not feasible for Sony to invest in a phone with PSP when it will be outdated pretty soon..nokia made that mistake with the old n-gage..and now they've made a better decision by introducing the n-gage platform which means the games will remain the same even if the phones change.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. It's cool that they're thinking of a PlayStation-branded Sony Ericsson phone, but I still would love to see the other way around. A PlayStation Portable that focuses on games, but ALSO will feature Ericsson features.
