Sometimes it might seem like we here at Joystiq are wedded to our jobs -- that we spend every waking moment aggregating and writing about the latest video game news. Well that's just not true. We do get out occasionally, you know. To anime conventions, for instance.
But even when we're supposedly "relaxing" at incredibly nerdy gatherings, like this weekend's Katsucon in Washington DC, we can't help but think of you, the reader, and how we can be serving you. With that in mind, please enjoy the below gallery, which features some of the more unique/interesting game-related costumes on display by attendees (not included: the million or so Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts related costumes around. Come on guys... originality counts!)

Nothing to worry about: it's probably just a lie.

American cosplayers really are the worst.

There are more pictures of Americans whose costumes are last minute mock ups then American who actually spent time developing it. The case is true in Japan to, most of them have pretty faces due to the magic of Photoshop. However, there are some people out there with no talent in the area of sewing or designing but still cosplay because of friends or for the love of the character.
If more people would spend time with the costume and choose the character according to their height and weight, then it'd be possibly we'd see a lot more good cosplays.

Those were definitely NOT the best video game costumes from Katsucon. I was there working for a webcomic booth and I saw my fair share of really top notch video game costumes. The only ones there that are like the quality we saw were the Blood Elf and the Zora Link pictures in the gallery. There was a really good Zelda group among many others. (Not to mention a kick ass Chell that had a full size Portal Gun that looked like the real thing)

Oh man, I KNOW the girl dressed as the Cube! She sits next to me in one of my classes three times a week. Now she's internet-famous, I love it.

There's no way that was the only Ace Attorney costume. There had to of been at least an Edgeworth, maybe a Godot. (I myself was planning on going as Gumshoe, but then my plans to go at all were canceled.)
