Overheard@GDC: crack and the mobile games business

Not everyone is a fan of cell phone games and their development. Said an anonymous attendee at the Telltale party tonight, "Sure, mobile games are big business. Selling cocaine is big business, too. That doesn't make it respectable." It does add a new meaning to the term "Crackberry" (yeah, we're punny).

Mobile gaming is most popular with women because they can take Bejeweled in their purse. I personally need more complexity in my games, and way better controls.

I don't see anything wrong with mobile gaming, you know, if they'd keep those fucking 30 page Cell Play minimag/Cingular ads out of magazines that have nothing to do with cell phones. Nothing makes me want to cancel my subscription of OXM and PCGamer faster than seeing 30 pages worth of shitty shovelware cell phone games right in the middle of an article I'm trying to read.
