Activision trademarks DJ Hero

I CALL TRADEMARK VIOLATION ON ME!!!

Dj Hero...now that's something I'll be able to do. Guitar Hero? Hell no. Dj Hero? w00t w00t!

It would be lame if they took this idea too. I'm kind of accepting of Guitar Hero vs Guitar Freaks here... the latter was never really supported beyond a PlayStation release that had no official peripherals. Plus GH is just far more focused on recognizable tracks than Freak was.

But the US did get Beatmania on PS2 and it was packed in with a turntable controller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:PB160001.JPG). I don't know what else they could really do with this, but I'm not going to be surprised if the controller is almost exactly the same if they go through with it.

Maybe Activision just got around to seeing Aaron Stillman's video and were afraid, if not Aaron, that someone would take the name. I'm thinking they may never use it and they're just protecting themselves from HERO bootlegers. Make sense? I don't know.

I'd love it, if they make this happen though. Activision has the momentum to make something like DJ Hero really successful.

P.S. I hope the controller is nothing like the video. Crossfaders, please!

DJ Hero? uhh....No thanks....Guitar Hero has good music and is kinda fun when your pissed....DJ hero must be for druggies or people with terrible music taste....but then maybe you could mute it.....

I love beatmania the arcade version of course. The ps2 version was just crap. The song weren't as great as the the arcade version and ps2 version wasn't readily available. I hope that activision can pull this out.

As a casual DJ I could see this game being an awesome training tool for actually teaching novices how to mix and beatmatch tunes.

On easier levels, they can implement a waveform matching mechanic to introduce players to beatmatching, whereas the Expert level would force you to only use your ears. Of course, mandatory scratch patterns could provide for the more traditional rhythm game play aspects. This would also be a great opportunity to include a butt load of great tracks as there is so much good stuff out there in the electronica/dance world to draw from. Not just Oakie!
