This accolade is no doubt helped by the fact that the sequel, unlike those that came before it, was released for two platforms simultaneously, satiating players' thirst for over-the-top action regardless if they wave their banner over the Xbox 360 or PS3. In addition, Capcom continues to note that a PC version, for those inclined to play console-style games while tethered to their monitor and desk chair, will be released in the months ahead.

I AM a huge fan and wow. That's what happens when you make a game that's fun, technically sound on all it's platforms and has a palette consisting of things other than brown.

i bet majority of sales are of the PS3 version, its superior since load times are faster once the 20 min install is done.
and if you got a prob with the 20 min install, i say waiting 20 mins is more preferable to waiting 20 days to get your RRoD'd 360 back from M$.

Face/Palm, I start out the comments all nice-like and you gotta go screw it up... Yes the PS3 version has sold more, because DMC sells more in Japan than here. NOT because it's superior, just as the original Xbox if that was true.
Still the 360 version is doing really well. In fact I only knew like 2 people that have played the first ones, and a whole bunch of them were excited for this.

I don't think that DMC4 sold more units for the PS3 than the 360 in the US... Hard to believe... But lets wait for the NPD numbers next month and see.

I think the PS3 version is superior, Rai, but not enough to make an impact. I'm not going to bother with a big fancy list because there's not much of a point. Faster-than-already-fast loading and a few extra visual effects might be there, but none of them are big enough to say the PS3 version is decidedly better than the 360 version.
My opinion is that if you have both consoles you should be getting it for PS3, but if you own a 360, you won't miss the differences. DMC4 is great regardless of the console you get it on.

I would be amazed if the US sales weren't higher on 360. There are just so many more 360s in the US. Worldwide I can see the PS3 coming out ahead by a pretty good margin, but in the US there might just not be the number of consoles to outweigh even casually purchased 360 copies.

In america, almost positive DMC4 360 outsold PS3 (vgchartz says by a whopping 265k to 155k or something to that nature).
Worldwide though PS3 is ahead by 70 or 80k overall (last i checked on VGchartz again was around 460-470k to 380-390k or so).
But since this IS Vgchartz we're talking about, its just an estimate.
But given how its moved close to 350k units in japan alone, i'm willing to best DMC4 PS3 is slightly ahead worldwide

Who cares which version sold more. Sales are sales and if Capcom went exclusive, they would be missing out on a sizable chunk on either side of the fence.

From IGN review of DMC4, the graphics are identical. Aside from the loading time, which gives an advantage for PS3 after we factor in the install, I would say it all comes down to the CONTROLLER. I prefer the 360 controller since the left stick is positioned in a much more comfortable position, and you have rumble right now as we speak...

Most reviewers gave it good scores. Just not perfect 10s, which means it's a good game. A good game in a genre that's becoming increasingly rare = a good game.
We aren't losers and fanboys if we support a broader range than the perfect tens and high nines if the game IS in the genre we enjoy. So fuck off.

Fine, I'll tell him/her:
"Shipped" means the manufacturer will get the money, either from the purchaser or from the insurer of the shipment.
Shipped does not equal "bought by consumers" but unless the manufacturer is wasting money by granting retailers rights to return a substantial portion of unsold inventory, you can count the shipped numbers as a great (I mean fantastic, better than anything else) indication of how many units will make it into consumer's hands.

Don't knock it till you tried it. Finished it last night and it was fantastic (IMHO). I will replay it on the harder diff as well - I love Dantes' attitude. Oh yeah, the music, gameplay and graphics are all top notch as far as I'm concerned.

I'm glad its sellin well. In fact the only people shedding tears at the fact that its selling so well is probably disgruntled sony fanboys who hate the idea that they lost this treasure of an exclusive.
As for sales it wouldn't surprise me if the ps3 version sold more OVERALL....BUT only due to JAPAN.
Now the 360 version is probably selling more copies in the US & possibly Europe as well as all the other regions.
However its probably getting decimated in Japan as expected so it wouldn't surprise me if that resulted in the ps3 version having a slight lead in the sales numbers.

I'm sure the fact that it's on two platforms really helped them...stuff the channel.
There's no way this game sold 2M to customers already, I'd be shocked if it sold 1M to customers already.
By having two versions, they were able to jam twice as many copies onto retailers shelves, regardless of sales.
