GDC08: XNA shroud vanquished, community games freed

Our old GDC nemesis, the mysterious shroud, can no longer be seen hanging around in Microsoft's XNA lounge. Having outlived its usefulness shortly after the conclusion of Microsoft's GDC keynote, the solemn sheet fluttered off to pursue other interests -- possibly in the lucrative illusion industry. Just click on the above image to view a gallery of the exposed XNA Community Arcade, including JellyCar and Culture (both of which can be downloaded from Xbox Live Marketplace right now).

ewww man that's so bad
Mr.ESC @ Feb 20th 2008 8:45PM
See ,it was disappointment after all.
Tiptup300 @ Feb 20th 2008 9:39PM
They didnt just release 7 games. They just now opened up a door to an infinite number of games. I am not disappointed at all.
Mr.ESC @ Feb 20th 2008 8:46PM
If you don't like them you can download N+ instead.
CONFUSEDgam3r @ Feb 20th 2008 8:48PM
Meh, are they free? If so that's cool. If not then I hope there is a demo.
Blue_Falcon @ Feb 20th 2008 8:49PM
I've played 3 of the 7 games.
The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai is more than enough to make up for any bad qualities the other 6 have.
If you're not playing it, you haven't lived.
Rask @ Feb 20th 2008 8:49PM
I tried all 7 games today. Jelly Cars needs to come out with more tracks and a level designer.
These's possibility of epicness here on the excitebike scale.
The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai is going to be getting serious play once I wrestle the TV from my wife and her stories..
naxe @ Feb 20th 2008 8:50PM
........... are you serious?
Rask @ Feb 20th 2008 8:53PM
A quick read-through on your posting history indicates that your opinion of Xbox/Live is worth absolutely nothing.
Thanks for playing

Yeah, this is year is gonna be greatb for the 360. We've got this community arcade. Say what you want, if this goes well it WILL change the industry.
We've got Fable 2 (I loved the first game, and this one looks better in every single way, and they've got proof they won't drop everything).
Gears 2 is going to be suh-weet. I don't like Epic Games at all, but Gears of War is simply amazing.
Ninja Gaiden II, I haven't played a lot of the other ones, but they were really fun from what I played.
Then add Alan Wake, Too Human, and Halo Wars.
This on top of GTA IV, which while it is coming to the PS3, will also be a major 360 release.
naxe @ Feb 20th 2008 9:19PM
Thanks for the stalker report rask!!
indeed game over for me.
i was just expecting more from the unveiling.
Rask @ Feb 20th 2008 9:36PM
I didn't realise that clicking on a person's name to read past comments made by said person was considered stalkerish now..
If you don't want people calling you on your trolling, then use a different nickname when you post comments.
hvnlysoldr @ Feb 20th 2008 11:03PM
Using the same account but different name won't change your history.
ZenGaijin @ Feb 20th 2008 9:02PM
People can scoff all they want all I can say is that Dishwasher dead Samurai is fucking awesome.
Rob Accomando @ Feb 20th 2008 9:10PM
So there's no "Microsoft Seal of Approval" for quality?
Mr Khan @ Feb 20th 2008 9:10PM
I wouldn't call it disappointment, has potential to be awesome, but thats the whole of it
Matt B @ Feb 20th 2008 9:23PM
So its hard to get user created UT mods on the 360, but not user created games?
naxe @ Feb 20th 2008 9:28PM
Zing!!
Boostjunkie @ Feb 20th 2008 9:37PM
How is this a disappointment, this is amazing! It opens up the Xbox to homebrew development, with a user ranking system. This is about the greatest thing ever. Amazing stuff will come out of this.
Batzarro @ Feb 20th 2008 10:03PM
Oh...but how do I MAKE the homebrew games(retorical: I know It's not easy!)
ScottyGEE32 @ Feb 20th 2008 10:13PM
Hello? Hello? anyone notice me? That little ugly continent Australia?
Guess not, no XNA stuff for here... So it was definatly disappointment.
Kree @ Feb 21st 2008 5:20AM
We're just "Europe: Episode 2" as far as America is concerned :(
FOXHOUND @ Feb 21st 2008 7:30AM
My theory is that the devs got ahold of a vegemite sandwich.
Abhinav Kumar @ Feb 20th 2008 10:34PM
Worst before and after ever.
hvnlysoldr @ Feb 20th 2008 11:05PM
Darn lost a bet that it would be a smaller less mysterious shroud.
SONY DOESN"T TOTALLY SUCK
John McPoop @ Feb 20th 2008 11:32PM
