Hot on the heels of yesterday's news (and today's, for that matter) on everyone's favorite upcoming racer, Mario kart Wii, comes fresh screens depicting a variety of the game's selling points. We get to see Mii integration (above), as well as a taste for some of the tracks making their way into the game, new and old alike. Not only that, but we get some screens for navigating the online arena and setting up a race.
For all of the eye candy, check out our gallery below.
Mii integration is going to make it a bit more interesting, hopefully. Mario Kart's more significant problem was the lack of character variety, something that's been steadily getting better since Double Dash, but was a limiting factor before that
I'm not sure if it was covered from the get-go (the article site is blocked here at school) but if you have to unlock Mii integration, you'll probably just get to choose which Kart you can use. I mean in MKDS, once you cleared all the diffuculties, which character you chose was meaningless anyway
On the Mii Channel don't you choose weight and height? I haven't played MC since 64, but wasn't weight essentially the biggest difference between different riders?
For Sonic Mario Olympics you could pick a Mii but essentially would have to tie it to one of the regular character's stats. I imagine something similar for this.
I'm guessing your Mii's stats will be determined by their body type. If, for example, you're tall and skinny like me, then you're Mii driver, if you choose it, would have good speed (like Waluigi) because it's lightweight. Toad's bike looks awesome though. Does anyone know if Boo's been announced as a driver yet?
All Wii screenshots look like this. They're probably stills taken off of an HDTV, and freezing upscaled high-def frames does look hideous. Remember the god-awful looking Metroid Prime 3 screens? That game turned out great
My concern is the character models, they look particularly blocky, especially compared to similar characters in Galaxy
Yea, I'm concerned about the graphics as well just like everyone else. Thing is, I understand that in a still screenshot, they won't match the fluid motion. But what I'm seeing here is worse than just the difference between stills and motion. I hope they're showing shots from features they had already implemented a while back but have simply been testing as they tweak graphics, etc.
Point is, if it looks like that, I might very well not buy it. (especially without headset compatibility) GameFly, yes. But purchase? It'd be a tough decision. Gotta have some serious gameplay, for that...
The game sounds great and probably plays great but the graphics = disappointing.......Mainly the Karts/MBs/characters...the backgrounds in general look ok......
