Halo 3 multiplayer set to become 'Ghost Town'
Even during our hectic GDC schedules, we're able to sense the vibrations caused by new Halo 3 information gently plucking on the strands of the interweb. Bungie has revealed "Ghost Town," a dilapidated African battleground included in the upcoming Legendary Map Pack. An "asymmetric map designed for 4v4 encounters," Ghost Town is the result of over 4 months of work and should be well suited to One Flag, One Bomb, FFA and Team Slayer gametypes.

looks great
Brian Fantana @ Feb 21st 2008 5:36PM
Looks like a Ghost Recon map. Looks like Christian Allen (ex Ghost Recon MP lead) is having some influence on Halo 3 maybe?
Glitch W @ Feb 21st 2008 5:38PM
reminds me of the Halo 2 Campaign map when you first get to the halo ring
Spiza @ Feb 21st 2008 5:45PM
Wow, just think if they let the community make hundreds of maps (with 5 or so gems) instead of using 4 months to make one map.

Quantity != Quality

Speaking of Halo 3 becoming a 'ghost town,' I noticed Call of Duty 4 was _again_ number 1 on the charts ahead of Halo 3 last week. That's the second week in a row and the third time in the last month or so. Halo certainly has nothing to worry about, but it's interesting that a multi-platform game can have as much presence on Bungee and Microsoft's home field.

yeah, i read 'ghost town' and figured that halo 3's popularity on live was falling even more.
lol@halo3

Does that screenshot look a bit out of place in the universe, or is it just me?
Doom3killer @ Feb 21st 2008 6:02PM
just u... looks like sanctuary
Dirt @ Feb 21st 2008 5:51PM
Wonder if it'll be free. I never buy map packs because the industry standard has been free since Doom was released.
Scott @ Feb 21st 2008 5:53PM
They charge for a pack of maps for a few months and then they become free. I'm guessing the Heroic Map Pack that came out earlier will be free when this map pack is released.
Drago Dracini @ Feb 21st 2008 5:59PM
Well, now Microsoft can get more of my money... *goes to budget out the money for Commanders! and N+ on Live and the maps, and the games from the next 3 months*
Doom3killer @ Feb 21st 2008 6:02PM
Microsoft barely gets money from it (they don't own bungie). also, they only get money for putting the content up (not from N+ games etc)
Drago Dracini @ Feb 21st 2008 6:32PM
oh o.o i didn't know that.
soupbase @ Feb 21st 2008 6:04PM
50000 people used to live here..
superted @ Feb 21st 2008 6:05PM
rather some COD maps :)
dan stabbingworth @ Feb 21st 2008 6:05PM
I wish they would occasionally make gametypes that had 16 players on small maps like this. Nothing wrong with an occasional n00bfest.
xFenixKnightx @ Feb 21st 2008 6:10PM
Looks good, Ill probably end up checking this out =)
Paul Miller @ Feb 22nd 2008 8:23AM
Ludwig, this headline fills me with joy and happiness.
umm....hello??? @ Feb 21st 2008 6:38PM
sweet....I wanna see the other 2 maps. can't decide whether to just wait 'til they're free or pay early...
ALSO, Halo3 multiplayer update is up and running--fixes to minor things and the melee system.
Obie @ Feb 21st 2008 7:05PM
Ghost Town? As a place where no one resides? Sounds like Halo 3 to me! Oh snapz!
Doom3killer @ Feb 21st 2008 8:03PM
halo 3 and Cod4 have been fighting for most popular game since both came out.... ghost town sounds more like rainbow six or gears right now...
Obie @ Feb 21st 2008 8:07PM
You might be right, worth checking out ( once the maps become free of course).
xGeneral DEATHx @ Feb 22nd 2008 6:05AM
ZING!
I don't know about you guys, but I haven't picked up Halo 3 since CoD4 came out.
rTwelve @ Feb 21st 2008 7:20PM
Did anyone else think of the Gears of War level in that interior garden shot, the one where you fight the Berserker in that indoor garden?
Doom3killer @ Feb 21st 2008 8:03PM
yes
Chance Morgan @ Feb 22nd 2008 12:14PM
Yes, but I wasn't quite sure of why it looked familiar until I read your post.
Dan CiTi @ Feb 21st 2008 7:40PM
Looks like a good map. Hopefully they add one more game type before they're "done" with the game. I'd be great if it's a Counter-Strike: Source like mode where you buy weapons. I guess "Economics" would be a good name. Then have "Supply & Demand"(where the more people buy a weapon the more it costs) & "Power Struggle"(similar to Crysis' PS mode) variants. Other than that Halo's multiplayer is perfect in my opinion.
luckycharms711 @ Feb 21st 2008 11:47PM
hopefully they don't rip people off and charge so much for only three maps, at least five should be included for the price they are charging.
BMErdin @ Feb 21st 2008 11:30PM
If console people would stop paying for extra maps, they would probably stop charging for them.
Either that or stop making them...
But still. Wait until it is free.
ScottyGEE32 @ Feb 22nd 2008 12:57AM
Looks great, but either I'm going to hope they charge less for the map pack, since it doesn't have foundry or so far anything worth as much in terms of replayability...
If you couldn't handle that mouthful (I'm sure your used to it, HA I'm such a killer a jokes), I'm just saying if its cheap I'll get, else I'll wait for free!
smiley rojas @ Feb 22nd 2008 7:00PM
i tried cod4 but halo3 is just so much better. i wont buy the map pack... just wait till it is free.
