GDC08: Penny Arcade dev aims for episode every 4 months

As the folks at Telltale Games are sure to tell you, one of the tricks to successful episodic gaming is releasing content on a regular basis. Vancouver-based Hothead Games appears to be in agreement, with Penny Arcade Adventures producer, Joel DeYoung, telling us of the developer's tentative goal to release a new episode every four months. "Yeah, definitely there's a fixed release schedule. It's tentative right now, but we're talking about one every four months," DeYoung explained in a GDC interview. "[It's tentative] because, you know, this is a new model for us, and it is quite tricky with all the project management scheduling and making sure we're officially overlapping the work on all the episodes."
With some work on Episode Three already underway, we can expect to be tumbling down the precipice of darkness for at least eight months. Look for the full interview to be published on Joystiq later this week.

That game has one of the worst titles imo.

Well it fits in with the nature of the comics.

That's cool, people like you aren't who the game is made for.

Generally speaking, if it has to do with penny arcade it isn't made for anyone with a sense of humor . . .

More like Best Title Award. And even if you don't get why it's funny, at least admit it's better than Penny Arcade: The Game.

I agree.
This game is going to suck. Nobody is going to hanging about every four months to play garbage. If I wanted to do that I'd roll about in my own filth. This is an auto-fail.

Haha, I actually got rated down for equating penny arcade with 'unfunny!' And here I thought stating the obvious was what made for good standup?

i am sexually excited about this game

So install a 2000 flushes every time a new episode comes out.

I'm looking forward to playing it. I hope the writing is top notch.

After all of their complaints and bitching about other games, why will I not be surprised when OtRSPoD:EO is a generic jaunt through Video-Game Reference Lane with a quick turn through Say the Word "Fuck" 500 Times Alley?
And yes, I can assuredly say this, after looking only at screenshots.
Geist @ Feb 24th 2008 6:34AM
Of course, because static, non-moving screenshots communicate ever so much how the game plays.
I honestly can not tell if you're being sarcastic or not, and I really hope you are.

I'm not understanding the haters myself. It seems to be people who don't like the site trying to bitch about the game as being bad for the same reasons as why they don't like the site. It just makes people sound uninformed, especially when, having watched gameplay footage, the game doesn't batter you over the head with swearing. From what i saw the combat interests me, because i like RPGs, and the enemies were highly amusing; mega-game-referencing i did not see.

I'll be impressed with the game when we see some fun gameplay demos. I am sure the game will be hilariously written but IMO it would have been better off as a puzzle/adventure game of some kind, like Monkey Island.
They coulda even had Insult ****-Fighting.
