Eric Zimmerman said he next had a surprise guest returning for a second time. Enter Chris Hecker, whose infamous line last year blasted through the blogosphere. Zimmerman awarded Hecker with an award "for the most controversial, media-grabbing rant of the previous year." He pulls out a roll of duct tape and puts a strip of it across his chest. "As a sash," Zimmerman quips.
Hecker puts up a hilarious disclaimer that, among other things, "However you find it, if you would like to write about it on the internet, that would be great, but please do not write headlines designed simply to increase your site's traffic while simultaneously misrepresenting the content and/or context of what I'm actually saying." Following that, Hecker provided a hilarious email and Wikipedia page -- did you know he has eight nipples, born with a third testicle and his first words were "Where the hose at?"
Hecker obviously felt a backlash, but through all this he still believes in ranting ... no wait, maybe not. Through all this, he still believes in expressing (thoughtful) opinions forcefully (but politely!).
Games could be the preeminent art of the 21st century, but the outlook isn't so good on the current trajectory. If you rant, it has to be followed by action. "People say 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all,' and I think that's bullshit." However you do it, Hecker said, speak your mind.
