Seems like the guy wrote his presentation, then added a few random "f**king" words here and there. Seemed quite out of place to me.

Speaking of rants, now that GDC is over i hope i won't have to see the words "Veronica" or "Mahalo" on the frontpage for a while. Getting damn sick of reading that, and seeing every video start with "Hello this is Veonica Belmont for Mahalo Daily". Enough already!!

i was thinking the same thing to. it seemed the f' bombs were outta place and seemed forced and like they were used only to make them sound like they're actually mad.... but they did bring up some good points

I agree with what Clint Hocking had to say, but not the way he said it. Clint wants games to be taken seriously as a medium for serious subject matter, but no one is going to take the game industry seriously when the people behind it swear like immature kids.

I wish the video had more of Jane McGonigal's rant. She has the energy, experience, and forethought to change this industry for the better; at least the parts of it that need changing, or even creating for that matter.

The 1up podcast is meant to be a commercially distributed piece of entertainment. It caters to the core college-age gamer

GDC is supposed to be a symposium of the best and brightest, the paragons of the industry. When the two sound the same, you realize a few of the problems the industry has with gaining ultimate acceptance

Granted, they're supposed to be rants, so i imagine this is just part of the facade, but still

ITS CALLED DEVELOPERS RANT YOU FUCKING IDIOT. That's the whole point! Its for developers to go off on tangenets and bitch at stuff in the industry. And yes that includes the FUCK word. The keynotes are there for inspiring creativity and different ideas in a civilized manor, the rant is there to say "FUCK!!!" and I love it and I would love to see more.

Its because people like you guys that games are still mindless idiot fest's . Try to discuss things, but noone will ever listen. Its time to change games for the better...

I dunno I see that more as the general social bullshit mindset of "If you are smart person, you can't use your vocal chords and your lips to combine certain sounds together that make words and phrases that people have marked 'dirty' because of silly superstitions"

To dismiss the absolute brilliance of that first rant because of the usage of the word "fuck" is, in my humble opinion, FUCKING stupid.

The difference is on the 1Up Yours podcast, it doesn't feel like they are forcing themselves to swear, it just feels natural. In this video it sounded like he was putting in the F word to make him sound more angry than he was.

I'm all for more FUN in games. I don't always want to be challenged to the point of redoing an area 15 times to get by some stupid choke point in the game. I want to have mindless fun. It seems that most games now are more 'work' then fun. When did 'easy' become a bad thing?? Why do we have to have INSANE modes?... I don't have the time or the patience to devote weeks in a game like I used to.. I just want to have fun.
PGR series is a good example.. the KUDOS system is just a PTA. Why not make huge core changes to the game based on EASY MEDIUM and HARD? Not just more enemies and higher hit points.

I think this XNA news from MS is a good thing.. forget the fancy graphics and lets get back to simple fun games that have good core gameplay.
