The pink-shirted volunteers made GDC run smoothly, helping answer questions and usher people to the right sessions. Ten minutes before Peter Molyneaux's scheduled speaking time, attendees filled into the room. You know what, the next time I have to explain what defragging is, something like this would be a good example to use. I've always found it hard to explain.

Defragging would be putting people from the same groups together, assuming that they will later be "read" as a unit.
Bunching people together closely would be the analog of disk 'optimization', which does not necessarily increase drive performance any more with modern drive technology.
So, he is not using the term correctly.

At first I thought of fragging used like in FPS multiplayer, then I realized it meant defragging computer hard drives. Maximizing space by moving files into more efficient groups.
